Because
of Bierstadt's interest in mountain landscapes, Mount Bierstadt
in Colorado is named in his honor. Another Colorado mountain was
originally named Mount Rosa, after Bierstadt's wife, but it was later
renamed Mount Evans after Colorado governor John Evans.Index
