The Cat Who Wears Contact Lenses
In what is believed to be a medical first, 15-year-old Ernest - a cat - was fitted with contact lenses to help him see. The cat's eyelids had turned inwards (called entropion) and were scratching his eyeballs. The contact lenses protect the eyeball, so Ernest can comfortably keep his eyelids open. The lenses will be removed and cleaned by staff every 3 weeks. Ernest has been a popular resident at the Goodhill RSPCA on the Isle of Wight for the past 13 years. |
