I thought she was wearing a jacket when she entered the locker room, then when she approaches the shower, jacket is missing. Obviously she took it off, but why? If she's there to look for Willow, it doesn't really make sense to take it off, because of (1) the sense of urgency in Willow's "apparent" call to meet, (2) the apparent spookiness of an empty locker room and (3) a non-athletic Willow taking a shower (uh *salivates for a few then clears picture of Willow from brain*) /---------------------------------------------------------------------\ | Hendu | hendu@usa.net | http://www.personal.psu.edu/hxn106 | | WOWIE! S P O I L E R S The Good: The humor had me laughing so hard I was embarrassing myself. Poor Maureen, you're going to have to transcribe the entire episode! As many folks have mentioned, the tag with Buffy, Willow, and Xander is PRICELESS! I loved it! And, I'd just like to point out that Buffy didn't say *no* relationships; she said, "no *normal* relationships." I for one am looking forward to the possibilities. :-) I loved Willow in this episode. Yes, she was falling in love and swept away buy it, but she was intelligent enough to know when something was wrong and to take steps to avoid the trouble. I enjoyed the scene where she basically leaves Xander by himself, and Buffy points out how much he enjoyed be the center of Willow's attention, even if he didn't have feelings for her romantically. Lots of nice dialog here. BTW, it's nice to know Willow has parents! She actually seems to have a "normal" household. Toast characters I love: The toast characters in Buffy are so much fun, and their deaths have more impact, because they actually contribute to the episode. Unlike the guys with the "red shirt" in Star Trek, I liked Dave in this episode, I liked the science teacher in "Teacher's Pet," and I liked Flutie. I care about these characters because they're well-written and somehow endearing. Basically, I have to be careful about becoming emotional attached to a character because they'll be toast --Now I'm worried about Ms. Calendar. I really liked her. The Bad: I only have one quip. Sarah and Alyson are beautiful, and yet, sometimes the costumer and directors manage to make them both look bad in one scene or another. I really feel for the actresses when this happens. Some favorite quotes (from memory): Xander: "I could be an old Dutch woman." Willow: "Hey, remember me? Your girlfriend. I think it's time we break up! Your breath is deep. But before I go, I look at you one last time. I can hear a heartbeat. Is it yours or is it mine? I look at your lips. I know how soft they can be. Did they know what they wanted the times they kissed me? And your hands that I held in mine, Now there up pulsing on the pillow, Will they ever miss me sometime? I'll remember you. You will be there in my heart. I'll remember you. And that's all that I can do, but I'll remember. Your eyes that always make me shiver, Now they are closed, They just sometimes twitch a little. And your body, I could hold for an hour. It sent me to heaven with its heat and power. I'll remember you. You will be there in my heart. I'll remember you. And that's all that I can do, but I'll remember. - ----------------------- Leslie Natpack~HPotCoS~GASPer: Keeper of the Car Keys~Angelite and Self-appointed Keeper of the Angel Library "I can feel an angel sliding up to me." --One Night in Bangkok, _Chess_ LaremyB@aol.com or RemencusL@jsc.mil ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Apr 1997 09:07:01 +0000 From: "Augie De Blieck Jr." Subject: BUFFY: "I Robot" derivation [no spoilers] I think we're missing the boat with the Tarzan reference here. Why? Well, it's actually "Me Tarzan, You Jane." I think the Buffy title is fashioned more after the classic Isaac Asimov title, "I, Robot." The "You Jane" thing is just a further take-off on that. So, yes, while there is a Tarzan reference in there, I believe it is secondary to the Great One reference. - -Augie - --------------------------------------------------------------------- Augie De Blieck Jr. - augie@nic.com - AugieDB@compuserve.com "Egg whites are good for a lot of things; lemon merangue pie, angel food cake, and clogging up radiators." -MacGyver (Bushmaster) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Apr 1997 09:18:21 -0400 (EDT) From: DangerMom@aol.com Subject: BUFFY: Re: I Robot, etc. Thanks for the hot tip, Augie. I'll be checking out Rosie about an hour from now. Some thoughts on I Robot: S P O I L E R S P A C E Very cool episode; like those who posted overnight I enjoyed the banter between Giles and Miss Calender, and that lovely, sad ending with the three lovelorn teens. (Echoing Giles' line about Buffy "We're doomed" from...oh, one of the earlier episodes.) I have heard the term techno-pagan before; in fact I've met a few people who might qualify as such. It was a nice twist; plus making us think Miss Calender had also fallen under Moloch's spell. In fact, she reminded me from the no-nonsense astrologer from the X-Files episode Syzygy. Regarding Daniel Tropea's and Sonja Marie's comments about the school's high mortality rate: this had me thinking all night. How many deaths or disappearances since Buffy's arrival? Jesse, how many teens-turned vamps or their victims in the pilot (I can't recall, don't have it on tape); Amy's mom; the science teacher, Principal Flutie...did anyone actually die in The Witch? And now poor Dave, and Fritz. Any time there's a student death around here (suicide or otherwise) they mobilize a veritable army of counselors for the students. What about those teen victims in The Witch, and Blaine from Teacher's Pet, and the "winged monkeys" from The Pack--do any of them have lingering problems from their experiences? If I was a parent with a kid at Sunnydale High, I'd be getting a little nervous...heck, if I was a student there I'd be a lot nervous! Or maybe living in the Hellmouth gives people a sort of built-in buffer to all the weirdness; or perhaps they're all self-delusional or something. How about the young mother who encountered the Pack sleeping off their Flutie-feast and the family attacked in their car? What happened to the CRD employees "recruited" by Moloch? (Talk about corporate head-hunting!) OK, it never pays to do a serious reality-check on a show like this, but it's fun to speculate! ~~DangerMom Keeper of the Gold Blend ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Apr 1997 09:23:19 -0400 (EDT) From: Betsy Vera Subject: Re: BUFFY: Questions for I Robot You Jane (SPOILERS!) > > > I Robot You Jane Spoiler Space > > > > > > S > > > P > > > O > > > I > > > L > > > E > > > R > > > > > > S > > > P > > > A > > > C > > > E > > > > > > S > > > C > > > R > > > E > > > E > > > N > > Is it Morloch or Moloch? Hi, Leslie! I don't know if you got my earlier post, but I did pretty much the same thing you did and posted the lyrics on the "Angel" page of my episode guide at Domain of the Slain. Anyways, I was trying to figure out the word that you heard as "up pulsing". Thanks to the well-trained ear of someone on the Posting Board, I got the answer: "reposing". At first the screen says "Status: Sophomore." But then, when the camera pans out to show Fritz reading the screen, the screen then says "Status: Senior." (Like I mentioned last night.) Just let the tape run another second. You'll see it change to "Senior." This is a pretty bad consistency error. Almost as bad as the "moving" blood spot on Captain Kirk's uniform in Star Trek II. :) JN --- pages.prodigy.com/slayer ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Apr 1997 12:38:32 -0400 From: Cassandra_Caswell@condenast.com Subject: BUFFY: SPOILER S P O I L E R S P A C E That ep had me rolling on the floor!! It did answer a few questions too. Willow has a mom and a dad - her dad is somewhat flighty because she said,"Dad, did you forget your key again?" Interesting house and room. I would love to actually see her parents. Xander got jealous, which is good, he shouldn't take Willow and all of her attention for granted. LOVED the last lines, how romantically tragic!! Giles and the computer teacher had an interesting tension/attraction thing going on. It was beautiful to watch them spar with one another. GREAT research on techno-pagans. It's nice to see pagans finally getting some good publicity. I wondered how they were going to get rid of the demon in the machine, wonderful way to solve the whole thing. One question, tho', is he (Moloch) gone for good? I also thought it was funny when Buffy went at him full steam, kicked him in the chest, and fell down. She's not as tough as she thought! Maybe she ought to work out more! Too true about the high mortality rate...or is that becoming normal now-a-days in high schools? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Apr 1997 11:40:31 -0500 (CDT) From: Anime Nut Subject: Re: BUFFY: TIME Article On Tue, 29 Apr 1997 DangerMom@aol.com wrote: > In the current (May 5) issue of TIME Magazine, there's a TV article entitled > "Bewitching Teen Heroines" that features some nice coverage of BtVS. I enjoyed seeing a lot more of Willow. She looked really beautiful. I loved seeing Willow's soft and loving side while still being strong and intelligent through it all. Alyson did a tremendious job of portraying Willow, especially her facial exprecions. God, she has the most increadible eyes. I loved seeing Xander show that he does care about Willow, at least a little bit. Watching Xander jump down off the fence and land with a thud was great. I especially loved his line, "Hey, I finally got to hit someone." or something to that effect. Seeing Giles finally have somewhat of an interest in the Computer Teacher means he might have a social life after all:) I loved the comparison at the end about what the difference if between a reading information from the computer and reading it from a book that you can smell. I agree with him 100%. I think the ending was great when the three friends were sitting around talking about how horrible their love lives have been. The looks on their faces at the very end was great. I mean, everyone on the show is good, but she's the best -- also (got to tell the truth!) the most attractive and best-looking. > Seeing Giles finally have somewhat of an interest in the Computer Teacher means he > might have a social life after all:) I loved the comparison at the end about what the > difference if between a reading information from the computer and reading it from a > book that you can smell. I agree with him 100%. The really amazing thing is that lots of older people really ARE as scared of computers as Giles is. And I like books, but it's not too hard to see that in another 10 years, CD-ROMs are going to replace most printed books. > I think the ending was great when the three friends were sitting around talking about > how horrible their love lives have been. Combs" Subject: BUFFY: I Robot, You Jane (Possible Spoilers) M A K E I T S O A S H ;-) (spoiler space) Hi, I'm new. . .well, not that new. . .I've been lurking somewhat. I loved this episode. The interaction between Ms. Callender(sp) and Giles was priceless. Especially the bit about the Middle Ages! LOL!!! I like her a little, but I think that she'll get killed. Look at what happened to poor Flutie! It seems that the teachers don't last long in Sunnydale. Plus she calls him Rupert! Next thing, she'll call him Rupe! I like just calling him Giles myself. I agree with both Callender and Giles. I'm very active on the net, but I still like to pick up a book and read. Yay! Xander finally got to bop a villian instead of the villian bopping him. At the end, when Willow, Xander, and Buffy realized that all their relationship had supernatural twists to them, I loved the expressions on their faces. They may have relationships, but not normal ones. I'm trying to do. . oh. . three Buffy stories at once. Though it's a little hard with Finals already here. But it keeps my sanity. I'm also trying to get a girl for Giles, and it's neither Ms. Callender or Buffy's mom. A new history teacher comes to Sunnydale because the old history teacher died (of natural causes!). It's also a crossover with Friday the 13th: The Series, if you want to know where this is going. I can't wait for the next one!
