Hi Fanus,

No, of coarse I don't take your comments the wrong way, this group of people
are the best I have seen in helping one another in this common intrest in
CANSLIM. But I am a little dissapointed that you feel nessary to set me
straight, instead of giving me some advice on what to do, which shows me
that you do not read all the posts here like I do.

I may have sounded impatient on the time it took to download the stock
charts. This is not so, I have a cable modem and the download time from CWH
Charts was an increadible 10-20 seconds. If you have looked at their
charts, they a chucked full of the most important information used in
CANSLIM saving tons of time looking that info up.

My question goes back to my four years of following the screens in IBD and
then going to the charts, where as it was suggest by several members of this
group to loosen up on the screens, look at the charts first and then confirm
the data. That way I would be able to see the forest for the trees.

When I mined the paper, I would end up with a list of about 100 stocks each
week that I would use the weekend to "STUDY" their charts, grade the
patterns and then follow each week. But by starting with 3 to 6 times as
many charts to go through, first I was wondering if maybe I should tighten
up the screen some.

WARNING...I GET LONG WINDED HERE AND REPEAT SOME OF MY PREVIOUS POSTS
.....BUT IT IS INTERESTING IF YOU HAVE TIME.

I realize I am now just getting going on this kind of backwards way from the
way I was doing this, by looking at more charts first.......the results of
me getting a high speed....wireless...sit next to my wife while watching
TV....not stuck in my computer room....sort of improvement I made that I can
really stick with.

When I explained that I spent an hour each morning reading yesterdays IBD
while working out on my Nordic-Trac at 4 am. And and hour each night typing
in each of the "Where The Big Money's Flowing" from the paper and looking at
some of the charts, it was suggested to open up my universe with wider
screens and then use the paper to confirm rather than to screen with. I
agreed and changed my life forever from reading day-old news. I still get
up at 4, now I read OFF-LINE saved web pages, only because by barn is out of
range of my wireless access point router, while working out each morning on
a stationary bike, Nordic track and weight machine! It's increadible, its
easier to see than a newspaper! The time goes so fast that I often exersise
more because I loose track of time just like we all do when were pokin
around with these charts. My mind is clearer for the day. I love this
stuff. Now I want wireless so I can fish and bike ride and still look at
data......So I'm an extreamist in the new tech stuff. I've always been the
first to try something and somehow work it into my life, my job eats up 10
hours of my time each day, I work outdoors with hand held computers, so its
a natural for me to think this way, how to do things on the run, because of
my time. I am quite infatuted with this......figuring out ways to stay
connected. I'm a Log Scaler, an accountant of the raw material. I look at
and visually grade logs and measure them, it is where the pricing of the
timber is set at an offical price based on my data. This grading or visual
interpitation of what I see fits in great with looking at stocks!

So to know how a person thinks, makes it easier to give advice. I want to
screen, chart, research, sort, chart again, sort the charts, and then alert
me to the breatout at anytime any place...stock alerts to cellphones, I
would have the always stock list in my pocket. Not tied to my computer
room. I know it can be done. I just have to figure out where to put all
the pieces.

Get this, when my Dr. told me my cholesterol was up, and my Dr. suggested I
excercise or take Zocor in a few years, I turned to a modified vegan diet
and exercise and changed my life forever...5 years ago. So I know a person
can change the way they pick their stocks. It just takes years of planning
and trying to get it right....never give up...my day job is like
this....subjective...all day long.

I was extreamily involved with organizing and running a local computer group
in the early 80's......The first question a visitor or member would ask me
is what computer do I buy? I would tell them; look at the software and then
buy the computer that runs the software the best or look at the final
product and see if that is what you want.

If you build a database or picture album, you need to see all the tools
first, learn some and select the ones that may work best for you. Then you
need to try a project and see what it might look like in the end. Then ask
questions to those who have tried different ways to see if you can modify
your approach. Develope a point of understanding, a base of knowledge that
you can jump from like a breakout from a good handle. Never give up changing
or modifying.

So I guess my question is do you have a suggestion on a tightning of the
screens or is it better to look at more charts first and somehow build a
grading system for the charts. I was using something like a"U~" for a CWH
and a "W~" for a dbl bottom and was concidering using a letter or numeric
grade to help sort the charts in my spreadsheet after quickly viewing them.
When Katherine mensioned she didn't grade the charts, I was a bit supprised
on how you might sort out all the visuals of these charts and build a
relationship to all the work you just did looking at all the charts. This
is why I asked if maybe to go to a very quick charting service that didn't
show much data but quickly showed you the patterns as to cull out the
obvious......like my day job!

Thanks

JC

Hi Gene,

It's great to have someone understand = me.  I=20 was able to get your list but not your basic scan view.  The page = won't=20 just let you copy or print it in the normal way. The MSN Deluxe Screener = has=20 an EDIT menu right above the criteria window.  I selected = "Copy=20 Criteria to Clipboard" then PASTED it below.  I named it KMclone = rs85+. You=20 can see what screen criteria I am using which is kind of a starting = point that=20 Katherine suggested.
