I'd say "C"--current earnings per share--above 100% is hot, minus 8% is not. O'Neil says "C" should be 20 to 50% or more. Johan and Robert, Have to side with Robert. Yes, I am very grateful for O'Neil's HTMMIS. Nevertheless, as I squint my way through the numbers in IBD every day, I realize there has to be a better way. The Charts in IBD are even worse. When I use them I ask myself... does O'Neil hold a position in Bausch & Lomb ? The one thing printed large enough in today's IBD was the full page ad for O'Neils institutional W.O.N.D.A. service with, irony of ironies, a woman's EYEBALL FIVE INCHES ACROSS filling up the top half of the page !!! Now HER eye looks CLEAR... not bloodshot at all.... no d**n redeye for her.... Betcha SHE never tries to decipher the ROE number on an IBD chart ! So, I applied some more Visine, and decided to check WONDA out.... Looked into WONDA'S site.... WONDA's unattractive to say the least. Once I got past the imitation-porno-site look (jet black backgrounds with livid dayglo hot buttons) I found little that was new, except that she's a tease.... WONDA points you to her phone number if you want more. Sounds like she's expensive too... her client list is 600 institutional investors. Still, she lets you screen her ample database using 3,000 (yes 3,000) variables ! Talk about wicked WONDA.... Db, you said you had been unhappy with TELESCAN, and would pay for a top-notch screening service. Are you up to WONDA ? ;-) Walter - - ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Jul 1998 16:19:24 -0600 From: "Jeff Salisbury" Subject: [CANSLIM] High Growth Stock spreadsheet Hey everyone, Something was wrong with my email this morning -- I didn't seem to be receiving any email. I've been watching it since it turned up from the bottom and was hoping (yes, hoping) it would form a handle somewhere around the halfway point. Well, it sailed right through that point and just keeps going, at least some of which may be due to short-covering. Whether it finally forms a handle near the rim or not is perhaps less important than the situation with BSX. If BSX looks like it's going to eat AVEI's lunch, AVEI could have a problem. This is all pure scenario and uncharacteristic of me. If AVEI had support somewhere nearby, I'd go ahead and buy it and just pay attention to the chart. But the penalty for being wrong here could be severe as there is no support anywhere in the vicinity. Therefore it becomes necessary to look at outside influences and their potential effects. One thing to keep in mind is the possibility of a pop at a new high which is due to short-covering. FWIW. - --Db _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!?
