Yeah, Popp is a class of its own. I can only agree to Byron and recommend= him to any of you who haven't yet checked out this French master. It's not "e= asy" stuff, not even very groovy, unless you think that dances that Popp inven= ted himself like the "Java", ARE groovy, but his tunes are super-magic. They = have all the archaic power of "childhood-memories", strange humor and a touch = of avant-gardism that you don't find so easy. My favourite two pieces of And= r=E9 are "La Java des Bombes Atomiques" and "La Java Martienne". Both are composit= ions by french novelist Boris Vian and appeared first on an album called "Chan= sons possibles and impossibles". That's where I got to know Popp for the first= time as well, way back in 1985 and since then Popp's music was a mysterious mi= racle to me. "Delerium in hi-fi" is absolutely stunning, no matter how often you play it. I receieved a tape with "Holiday for DJ's" a couple of days ago. Not as weird as "Delerium...", but it's still a very nice album, with all kinds of subtle twists and turns. Even on later albums, with more "normal" easy listening, Popp manages to slip in some really odd tunes. Does anyone have some more discographical info on Popp?
