It is important that you check for current Snell and DOT approval on the back side of the helmet. It has been my experience that the best prices may be found through mail order. However, if you intend to mail order, fit the model of helmet you wish to buy prior to ordering; place it on yur noggin (if at all possible). Good luck. My bike with its Acerbis fender never wobbles and I run at = 85-90mph a lot. It's also rock solid when occasionally I speed up to 100 (the = bike won't go any faster.) Bogdan My A13 is completely stock. Yes, I have experienced wobble while riding on Interstate 95 in heavey traffic at 70-80 MPH. When this first happened to me I guessed correctly that it was turbulence caused by the other vehicles all around me so I sped up to get away from everyone and the wobble stopped. At least in my case it was indeed caused by other vehicles all around me and in front of me. It gets pretty nasty when two or more big rigs are on each side and one or two in front. -Brian Shepard Philadelphia PA A13 "Blake, Paul" wrote: > Alright, I'm sure someone (probably several) on the list can answer, or > offer advice on this: > > I installed the Progressive Fork Springs last week, cutting =BE of an inch off > the stock spacer, and using 15w fork oil. Mike, documentation is a good sign that the owner at least made an attempt to properly service the bike. It would be a miracle if a 14 year old dualsport with 22k on the clock hadn't been knocked over a time or two. Depending on the brands, the chain, sprockets and lever could still leave you with half a markie to play with. I don't know what the steering bearings go for, mine's only needed adjusting. The engine may be occasionally dying due to a number of things. It could be something as cheap to fix as a loose wire, a broken coil or as expensive as a new CDI. With a VOmeter and a manual you can sort it out. From late model '95s and on, the factory made changes to the counterbalancer and clutch. There have been reports here of pre '96 clutch springs disintegrating, so check it out. A new clutch kit shouldn't set you back more than $150. If you're going off road, a bash plate is a must have. If the previous owner doesn't have the service manuals, you'll probably want to order both of them too. If you don't work with a local Kawi shop, contact Fred at moabmc@lasal.net. He can get you whatever you'll need. Oh yeah, check to see if the gremlins stole the oil supply tube that goes into the oil filter. By car or bike, it is quite an adventure. I hope you were nice to Janita and Antonia. A reminder: Our January 19-28,00 Copper Canyon via dirt to the Sea of Cortez Charity Ride group is rapidly forming. There are still some spots open so if you are interested, please contact me. I would be happy to send you information. My scout, Justin Lopez, who lives in the canyons, just phoned me tonight (phones have been pretty much out for months due to rain). The Rio Chinipas is high, the hand operated ferry is operating, and the roads are really bad. What that means to a KLR rider, is Yee Haa. Great riding! Please don't miss this one if you can. I'm leaving for Creel Thursday, October 21st for 9 days to do some riding in the area. So I will be out of E-mail range for those days. Hope to hear from you.
