I guess I may have to forego the BMW S and buy a ZX12R just to make it even. I may even have to wait for him as this ZX is turning better 1/4 and 1/8 mile times than the 'Busa. I don't thing they're as tough as the combat boots, which from what I hear are basically softened up off road boots , but they're good enough for my 95% on road, 5% off road use. Their literature says they have a steel shank in the sole for stiffness too, which helps when I'm standing on my serrated pegs. They are also absolutely waterproof, and pretty warm in colder weather. These boots are quality items in my opinion, but I only wish could have gotten them a little wider so I have a bit more air space during really cold weather. The SIDI's are Italian boots made in Italy as far as I know. NKLR >>not many of them come in "tall" sizes.but the >>Joe Rocket "ballistic" jacket does..So I'd like to know more about the Joe >>rocket Ballistic jacket, if anyone has any experience with it, good or bad. I was looking at the "ballistic" jacket myself. I asked for 'list consultation' and was overwhelmed with negative feedback. I ended up getting the First gear Kenya jacket which is 100% waterproof, has a zip-out liner, is vented, and it does come in tall sizes. I have been very pleased with this product. I think the price is comparable to the Joe Rocket, but it apparently has twice the quality. The suggested price is $260, but I ordered mine for $230 at the local cycle shop. The only setback is; its not 3/4 length, but the back does extend a little longer than the front, so IMO it is plenty long enough to comfortably cover the waist while riding. I was thinking that when I my KLR is ready for the heap, I would go in the engine and trim the skirt off the piston as much as I dared, especially the area perpendicular to the wrist pin, maybe right up to the piston rings, ala the Yam R6. Then I would drill a few lightening holes (as in to lighten) in the connecting rod. If I had the money, I would have the wrist pin, the valves, and the bucket made up in titanium as well. All this would be in an effort to lighten up the reciprocating mass. Then I would see how high it revs. What do ya think, is a single up to going 11-12,000 RPMs before it pops? Ah well, dreams... it could happen though.
