It is a god awful process that produces large amounts of toxic waste. If I'm not mistaken, I think chroming may be illegal in Britain, and Triumph has to out source all chroming to other countries. As for chroming exhaust components. Back in my bike restoration days, I learned the hard way that chroming existing, used exhaust headers and mufflers can be very, very expensive if you do not thoroughly clean the components. The smallest amount of soot will contaminate an entire chroming tank and render it useless. If you are not careful, you will have to pay for all of the materials the replenish the tank, which could be very expensive. Besides, A trip that short does more harm to a motorcycle than good as that is hardly enough time for the engine to achieve and maintain operating temperature long enough to vaporize moisture and contaminants out of the engine and exhaust system. My battery (a sealed unit) is still strong after 3+ years. Longest life I've gotten from a moto battery. I ride with electric gloves & vest all the time. I suppose if I added some super power drawing lights there might be a need. Still.....Stator or Rotor failure reports have been conspicuously absent from the list. That sure isn't the case wit= h Bemmer airheads to sight one example. Why mess with a good reliable system. Bogdan, Who's not a real electrical engineer. There's old farts, mid-term attendees, and newbies. However, the long-timers that don't wanna answer the same old questions anymore, but they'll come forward for the more esoteric queries. They are generally the ones that try to defer the standard "hey, what's the best muffler" questions to the archives. Consider that probably 1 person per week joins, some of these guys feel like their own broken record. Well, I tried to search for "synthetic" last night. Good luck. The archives are so full of crap that they are almost useless unless you have a good idea how to narrow down the search. Hopefully a new FAQ list will help this. Then the newbie questions will be more specific and interesting for the old-farts to answer.
