The turn to the hot springs has no sign but the place is worth looking for, a real little oasis. My inquiry was: <> SUMMARY and CONCLUSIONS: To each his own. Both are fine jackets. The Aerostich customers are very sure about there purchase .......simply the best available and worth the extra bucks. The Hi-Vis Yellow has got to increase safety but the "rub" is ol' Knot not want to look like a "gay canary" or "impersonating a glow stick". One possible solution is Conspicuity or similar vest. Problem there is ol' Knot have vest and he almost never wear it. Mrs. Cute Knot say; "Tweet, tweet, tweet" ..... that aint a KLR exhaust you hear......... its ol' Knot in his new Hi-Vis Darien - maybe. - --------- List Comments: First Gear Kilimanjaro ($253 mail order, liner included) Kili jacket - ....somewhat stylish in it, and the little ole girls in the Safeway....good customer service......well pleased. (Knot knows many riders who are very happy with Kili - very good jacket. Hypertex better waterproof than Gortex - maybe? Ol' Knot think FG Kili is stylish too and really like but .....Mrs. Cute Knot not interested in ol' Knot being stylish, just want him to return home so can go to work and bring home bacon (leaving girl at Safeway). Aerostich Darien: ($367 jacket only, with liner $500) ....spring for the Aerostich. You're dead a long, long time. (Aerostich).. that is absolutely the best piece of m/c gear I have ever owned. The price on an Aerostich is soooo easy to justify that it is a no brainer........It may not prevent injury at all, but at least you know you have invested in the absolute best and considering the risk, a couple hundred dollars is peanuts. .......... the Darien is the only jacket to get--because it's the only jacket available in Hi-Vis yellow. I don't get this black thing at all. And the price difference? I don't think I'd be congratulating myself on the money saved as I was ground under the bumper of a driver who didn't see me. The hi-viz color wasn't available when I bought mine. I was spared having to decide between the increased safety from impersonating a glow stick and the more understated gray color that hides the grime while absorbing less heat than black. A superb dual sport jacket (and pants!). Aerostich customer service is top rate. $357 well spent. I'm cheap, I'm getting back into riding after an absence of 18 years, and my wife insists that I spend the money on the Aerostich wear. I'm going to go with the Hi-Viz suit and yellow helmet. My buddy (who rides a CBR600) says I will look like a dish of sherbet with the blue/green KLR, hi-viz suit, and yellow helmet. I don't care. I just want people to see me :-) Ride around like a gay canary or lay on the side of the road and then, meet your maker dressed stylishly in biker black?? The choice is simple - I don't care what orientation people attribute to me. But here's the rub: Walk the streets and enter restaurants with an outfit that screams "Look at Me!!". .........that's unacceptable. My Aerostich is the only jacket I have ....... Solution: I always wear an international orange Conspicuity brand vest when I ride, even on trails........ - ----------- Knot - enjoying missing the great southern snow storm (just rain in Chatt). If I trailer or load it in the back of = the truck, I=20 will a tire with more dirt orientation.
I'm looking at about = a 1400 mile=20 trip each way (according to map quest) and any input would = help
