And return the next day....using a favorite route to get back to wherever home might be.... ....anyone interested? I just put the Stealth edging on yesterday and went for a test ride. I didn't have time to test it extensively, but I would say that the edging helps. It's not a total cure for the turbulence-in-your-face problem, but it helps some. Thirty bucks for three feet of Saeng/TA's Stealth edging is a little steep for what you get. When I called to order it, Saeng told me it was in stock and ready to go out by first class priority mail, but for some reason it took them at least a week to get it to the Post Office. When it arrived, I discovered that I had been charged an additional $6.50 for "postage" even though the box it came in had only $3.20-worth of stamps on it. I get the feeling that Saeng is one of those outfits that likes to make nickles and dimes any way they can. There should be a small spring on one side of the diaphragm that closes off the valve to shut off the flow of fuel when the engine shuts off. If you were to take out that spring or put the spring on the other side of the diaphragm, I would think the fuel would flow with out the engine running. Just to make it clear to those that don't know. This is a vacuum operated shut off valve, not a vacuum pump. The vacuum petcock relies on vacuum to open the valve to let gravity flow the fuel to the carb. There is a spring that shuts off the fuel flow when the engine shuts off and a diaphragm that opens the valve when the engine is running. Deciding to buy a 4-stroke dual sport was something I only recently decided to do, and prior to that I had NO interest in a ANYTHING with only two wheels weighing over 250 pounds. When the thumper bug hit me about this time last year, my "research" led me to conclude that the KLR was the bike for me (MOST of which came from this list!). Retrospectively, the bike for me ACTUALLY is the KLX. Just my luck...it's no longer produced. I love my KLR, but really do need it to be more of an off-road ride. I suppose the answer is to start pouring $ into it and see what I can do. The one think I keep reminding myself is that I would have to buy A LOT of goodies for it before even approaching the price of a Euro bike... Finally, I moved out of the old neighborhood to another one across town over the weekend. Moved everything except the KLR. Went back to get it yesterday. After it (and I!) were both warm, we eased down into the street and pulled away. Picked up the front wheel and pulled a wheelie all the way up the street at full honk for about 300 yards! For some reason, I experienced some strange satisfaction with my defiant parting act... (I hope I don't turn into one of those "smart-assed bikers" without a helment on an open-piped Harley.)
