The stock main jet and the jets from the Dynajet jet kit are numbered differently. Most will use the Dynajet 140 main jet with an aftermarket pipe and air filter. If your bike is stock then you could use the 136. I did it. I completely overall hauled my beloved A13. So far... I have excellent results!! Here is the configuration: Front Forks: Replaced stock springs with Progressive Springs from Mr. Hink Sir. I did not cut or modify the stock length of the spring tubes and put them back into the forks the new progressives. Now get this...I dumped the stock fork oil and put 375 mls of 30W motoroil into each fork!! Rear Suspension: Obtained the Roesler shock and spring from Mr. Hink Sir. I pre-stress the main spring by using a spanner to compress the progressive spring with 6 complete turns of the shock ring. I applied some loc-tite to the second shock ring and tightened just behind the first ring. No damping adjustments were made to the shock. Results: The ride is really nice and "tight" now! Nose dive is really reduced when I use a hard front brake. I do NOT bottom out when I do wheelies!! The rear end does NOT bottom out when I get upto two to three feet of air. It does pop up on me more than before but that is expected with the higher rated spring and additional pre-stressing. Conclusion: Now remember, I am 6'2" pushing 265 lbs. so you non-lardasses may not need this type of suspension requirements. But this lard-ass luv's his new suspension and it really is a nice performer. Now this is an initial report, I will follow up in about 6 months to tell how the equipment is holding up. I have heard lots of critical comments from know-it-alls that say I will blow the seals in the forks, and other alleged "guru" input. I would ask for hard data to back up the assertions and I would get blank looks and the "critics" would become defensive. So in short, if you are going to respond with unsubstantiated critical replies, please do not bother, I have heard them all. I have ignored them all in lieu of the type of performance I demand from my A13. So , in short... I will put all equipment failures associated with the new suspension configuration in my follow up report. A little background is at hand... My riding style can be aggressive. I ride the hills, washes, flats and trails of southern Arizona. I usually hit them and hit them hard. I have no mercy on my A13 or my CR-500. They are highly technical and a wonderful challenge. I do have to take it slower with the KLR especially with it suited up with camping gear but that does not stop me from taking on trails that only 4 wheel drive ATV's take in granny gear. In short, if anyone can get the suspension to blow... I consider myself a top candidate to achieve this. I will keep you posted. What's your S-D ratio? If the front isn't cupped, real worn, etc.....no sweat. If in good shape, its not an unsafe matchup unless your pumping on pavement. Other than that turning stability is compromised some.(By my yardstick). > Maybe > look to a trail wing front? Truly, matched sets are worth it. You can get a TW 41, which is supposed to be a match....The TW 41's, to me, are the best handling tire for the 650....here's why... TW41-they come in recommended stock sizes(not squirrelling out rake). Turning rate is ideal, and stable near peg scrapes.(they wear fast-,and they're inexpensive+) AM24-last long+, turn too quick-, have large rear tires+, screw rake-. I'm goin back to 41's cause I want my rake back(stock), and slower, stabler turning (If the 41 just was fatter and lasted longer...I'd marry it.) >or will I be taking off the Trail Wing rear?( I > know, shoudda checked with the list first) Its the To-mah-to/To-may-to thing....your call. It'll wear fast. Love those backroads though, dirt > or paved. > See ya, > Conall Hi Conall.....sounds like you be havin fun down there From the weather standpoint I think it be best to cancel the proposed NorCal dual sport ride. Flash flood warnings are in effect, and it looks like they're going to be, all week long. I know where the route would have gone, there are lots of creeks either culverted or running across the road...it's going to be a muddy mess..... I had a bichin trip planned, but it has turned to serious slop the way the weather has been.....I don't think anybody would be disappointed with the route (M1, Forest Service road, up to Covelo)...so, I am thinking we should make maybe a spring equinox ride out of it (around the weekend of March 20-21, maybe. The weather reports are calling for snow down to 3500 feet, which is about the elevation of the first leg of the trip (Upper Lake to Lake Pillsbury. after that it's bout 5000 feet up to Covelo). So, the official word is the first annual NorCal ride is Cancelled and postponed, but definitely not indefinitely.....how does March 20th sound, the weather couldn't be much worse than it is this week? The weather will be better, since it couldn't be worse, and the beer, it will still be as good. Let's do it then.
