That's a good step. A key point on the street is to be as conspicuous as possible. An item I have tried lately is a headlight modulator. It varies the intensity of the headlight at a frequency of 4 hz, and seems to make it a lot tougher for drivers to overlook the bike. Especially with a lot of the new cars having their headlights on all the time, I was looking for some way to make my bike more noticeable. The modulator I bought is from Kisan Technologies (888-464-5472). Other aids to being as conspicuous as possible are in the colors of the helmet and riding gear that you wear. Bright is good, retroreflective is even better. Putting a few pieces of retroreflective material on the bike itself might help as well. The horn may make you feel better, but it's not something I would want to rely on. No matter how loud your horn is, there's always the potential for the driver to have his 500-watt sound system blasting away. Usually it gets either Sunoco or Shell but at one time or another I've used 'em all and it didn't make any difference. The one thing is not to let the bike sit for too long so that the carb varnishes up. Keep it going year round. Once in a while I put a few splashes of dry-gas into it (not the whole bottle) just in case there is any moisture and I usually keep the tank full to reduce condensation build up.
