Do not get confused by the D/FF, PAEC, FB or MMMF indicators. Always make decisions based on the HONEY (your wife) Indicator before any purchase. If the HONEY indicator is a "GO", then buy and never look back. If the HONEY indicator is "STOP," you may buy on the slide and tell HONEY it is your brothers, friends, etc. bike and that you are just storing it for them. Light weight and cheap bikes always seem to be a good buy and the HONEY Indicator can be completely ignored if you: 1. Don't have a HONEY or, 2. Can live without .......you know - some HONEY. Please note that prolonged periods without HONEY can be hazardous to your health. Even new bikes require some maintenance and old bikes require more (much more?) maintenance. Also, when purchasing a new chain, is it endless, or do you have to connect together with either a master link or a rivet? The parts guy at Kawasaki said only the oem replacement is endless, and the swingarm must come off. All aftermarket must be connected during installation. A couple of years ago we had a surgeon on the list, some will remember Birol Say. HE managed to strip a couple valve cover bolt holes. It sounds like you were torquing by feel which is dangerous in this application as the bolt head is larger than usual for the bolt diameter. Bogdan Bingo the "by feel". But I wasn't joking about using a cut down wrench. Every vehicle I won has aluminum engines and I thought I had learned my lesson. Going by Sears Friday to buy a new inch/pound tourque wrench. What parts don't you know about? Your Kawasaki dealer is correct. All aftermarket chains are connected with either a master link or a rivet type of connector link. These are much easier to install and if done correctly will last the life of the chain. Bogdan Bogdan, we've got to adjust your meds (my wife is a nurse, she really can make it all "seem" better). I used to live in Denver and traveled to visit family in SE Oklahoma. I've traveled just about every route you can pick to connect the two dots. There's just no way to make western Kansas anything but flat and empty. The most fun we had was determining if the clumps of trees on the horizon were at an existing homesite or one that had burned before the FD could get there. I tried the ship analogy on my wife (trying to talk her out of a cruise). It kind of worked, she gave up on the cruise but I then had to buy plane tickets to Peurto Rico.
