That kinda complicates one of the most oft-done maintenance chores. Pete the Streak - ---------------------------------------------- Yeah, 10 bolts versus two. Big deal. You only gotta change the filter every 5 oil changes anyway. It's good to clean the pick up screen on the oil pump anyway, and you have to pull the sump off to do that anyhow. The newer Guzzis don't require this anyway, so what's your point? My old Beemers, if I recall correctly had to have the right exhaust pipe removed to do an oil filter change, and you had to replace the filter every time you changed the oil. I'll take pulling the sump every 12,000 miles (a 30 minute job total start to finish, including cleaning the sump and oil pickup screen) over setting desmo valves any day. Or pulling all the bodywork and getting inside the valve cover of a Triumph. Or dealing with the chain and sprockets of either a Ducati or Triumph. Gee, I dunno, maybe I'm a little sensitive because I hear the same old things about Guzzi since I was around 15. It's just not true that the factory in Mandello is going to be out of business soon, and as such that shouldn't be a concern of someone considering a purchase of one of the bikes. >I admire your dedication to the bike and its heritage. As to why I'm a little upset, I get upset when someone tells someone else to not buy a bike based on rumors and half truths concerning a company's future. Sure, you are entitled to an opinion, but an statement of opinion should not be construed as one of fact. Sure there was an article in MCN concerning the company's future. Have you read any computer magazines concerning the future of the Apple computer company's future? Up to now, I've been happy with the Gripsters, as I'm about 90% on the highway. I want to buy appropriate tires for extended off-road adventure touring; they just have to be able to cope with stretches of highway, like if we have to buzz home on the slab, like if we stay gone too long. In the photos at the web site, I saw exclusively knobbies. Anybody care to make a recommendation?
