That doesn't seem very >kraftwerkish, but who am I to say? Yes, indeed it is for real. Pascal Bussy mentions it briefly in passing in his book 'Kraftwerk: Man, Machine, and Music', and it far less detail than is revealing: "With a successful recording under their belts ('Kraftwerk 1'), the group's confidence had grown to such an extent that they were able to consider playing more concerts in their native Germany. These concerts were often advertised with a poster featuring the red and white traffic cone with a naked woman superimposed on it." I'm not quite sure if "superimposed" is the word I'd use. hehe However, I for one certainly do not find the poster offensive in any way. If anything, I find it comical, conceptual, and by all means intriguing all at the same time! :) hehe Let's not forget that the time this poster was released was only several years after the peak of the sexual revolution of the late 60s, so I see little problem with this form of expression being a product of its time. I only wish I had been alive at the time and old enough to appreciate KW's early albums like 'Kraftwerk' and 'Kraftwerk 2' when they were first released in 1970 and 1971 respectively. They're wonderfully expressionist and creative pieces of work and their concert posters at the time obviously mirrored that sentiment. - -- Scott nebulous@erols.com "In Wien sitzen wir, auf dem Traffic Cone..." # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info kraftwerk" in the message. # Postings must go to kraftwerk@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Sep 1997 22:29:37 +0200 From: Twingo on the Internet Subject: (kw) Pictures upload I added 5 pictures from the 03/07/1981 concert in London. still more scans to go!
