Haven't received my tickets yet. I'll be heading up with Lightfinger from SR and another friend. I posted a message to Loopz about a meetup and to see if he's going to be at this gig. Right now he's in Greece so he hasn't responded yet. If I hear something on the message board, i'll relay it back to hear. I'd love to bring my MD in to get the show recorded, maybe plug directly in to Mickey Mann's soundboard, that'd be nice. Just waiting a few more weeks to get blown away by P&P!!! I do not have any other plans because after that because I may be dead. Let's get organized about who is gonna be where so I can show you the pop-locking moves I have been working on... If you are reading this, you and yours are invited. Please let me know soon if you are interested, and how many will be in your group. I will then send you directions and contact information. Getting to my place is easy, and I'm a five-minute car ride from the venue. I figure we can meet before the show (say, 7-ish) for handshakes and consolidating travel to the venue, then hang out here after the show until whenever. I have a pretty nice party facility in the basement. Stereo, satellite TV, full bar, pool table, darts, fireplace. It's a pretty comfortable place to hang out with a group people. By the way, here's a link to the show description at The Rave website: http://www.therave.com/eventinfo.asp?ID=857 You can tell right away that this place is not in the know, calling Orbital "The most respected elderly statesman of the UK house scene." What is THAT about? Elderly? House? I just picked up tickets from The Rave directly, for myself, my wife, and a friend. $23 a piece (with all the fees) still seems like a bargain. The guy at the counter tells me that the boys are scheduled for the Eagles Ballroom, the biggest room inside The Rave. It's a good place to see a show. Giant 25,000 square foot floor that was once used for ballroom dancing. Big balcony with seating. I believe it holds about 3000. (My tickets are numbered 1057, 1058, and 1059.) One more thing: there is no mention of an opening band or DJ. Anyone know anything about this? I look forward to hearing from you! - -- Rik Akey # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info orbital" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email orbital@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Orbital discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?orbital ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Sep 2001 19:42:58 +0000 (GMT) From: aimee couture Subject: Re: (orbital) Goin' to HOT-lanta October 5 Hey :) > And Stargurl Aimee in Canada... Oh, I wish I could take a road trip. My life is a series of randomly planned concerts.. but never more than a few hours from home.. just saw Tool last night (which was excellent, and I had amazing seats). Expedia.ca tells me it would be $430 to fly to Atlanta-yikes. I guess I'll be going to the Detroit show, but I'm still holding out for a Toronto tour date.. four years have passed since Orbital played in Canada. *sigh*. I saw them the night that I saw Tool in 1997. So last night I was thinking about Orbital a lot. > Anybody ever hear from Dan R Centurion since he's moved from S.Am to > UK? I am also bringing my Silent Repellent CD for an autograph :) I have an MD recorder (but no mic) and a video camera. I would not mind documenting the concert either if it is ok. we can meet up at my place. it is 1.2 miles from the venue (according to Mapquest). Let me know who wants to meet up so I can get a head count. I can make some dinner and snacks as well. let me know of any dietary restrictions..
