To keep track of the contest, you would need to be getting the daily updates! Happy Anniversary to us! Happy Anniversary to us! Today is the 2nd Anniversary of the ST Auctionne! In honor of this, we are having a contest! Here's the prize! One auto from TNG 7 (upon it's release and the exact one will depend on what I pull) Here's the contest! I let James pick it since my word contest got kinda crazy! Sometimes, people get afraid to enter figuring everyone else is ever so much more collectible-brained them them, so I am making this a random contest! I will post a new question every day.(I will let the first question sit for two days to allow for holiday travels) Everyone who wants to enter must answer the first question to qualify for the contest. The questions are for the most part random, though I suppose there may be a personal bias to the answer. Here's how it works. you gotta get the answers correct to stay in the contest. Last man standing wins, only those who got the answers correct may answer the next day. We will keep narrowing the field every day until only one person gets the answer correctly. That person wins! Some people are likely to get knocked out on day one, but don't despair! I am sure I will have another contest! ***DAY ONE QUESTION*** Does the Auctionne Goddess prefer Sarium Brandy or Romulon Ale with her meals? If this matters to you, do NOT bid in this auction. (I should preface this with the statement that I've given up trying to keep track of which figures come with pogs and which come with cards and which are the more "valuable", so I don't know if the picture you refer to shows the "more, or less valuable" figure) Clearly, this is either sloppy marketing or they figure they'll get money from some dolt who doesn't bother to read the fine print. I have bought an awful lot of stuff from Intergalactic on eBay, but I'll be the first to tell you that they try too often to write a text block that can be used on several items and, very often, put it with a picture that seems to contradict the message. Obviously, you should try and eMail them, but they are also VERY slow to respond. You might not get a message until after the auction ends. I remember Lynne telling me recently that the Star Trek sets have been quite unpopular until TOS-1 came out with the autos etc. I think Voyager profiles was pretty sucessful as well. But have things slipped with this latest installment, that's the impression I get from eBay and my own experience. Perhaps the novelty of such rare cards has now worn off, as Lynne said such tactics cannot last forever. On another note, bearing in mind the discussion of Intergalactic. I hope Lynne's book includes a price guide and that it is more realistic than Intergalactics. The truth is that some cards are almost impossible to sell. Intergalactic's guide is some kind of dream, to me anyway. And on a final note, I notice lots of companies are bringing out special pieces to mark the Millenium. I wonder if there will be any special Star Trek pieces brought out? I would think that Intergalactic is hampered in their objectivity by the fact they sell as well as make a guide. I mean, doesn't it then become to their advantage to quote prices high so when their catalog comes out, they are more justified? I am sorry to report their will be no price guides in the book. I avoid them at all cost on the web site and will carry that through to the book. It is impossible to take all possible buying situations into consideration. For example, net prices Vs show prices, overseas Vs US. I'll agree that that's the way it does go when the town grows, but I don't have to like or condone it. I can also point to SOME businesses that make it a point to continue providing quality service even when business grows quickly. I think they call it "re-investing some of the profits back into the business". It's a different concept from "let's just bleed this thing for all it's worth" and one I prefer. Yes, most go for the bleeding idea. So, what have they created? Just shit, that's all. There's a reason people STILL think of a '57 Chevvy or the Original Star Trek as "classic", but hardly ever mention the '48 Plymouith or "Hello, Larry". I'd rather be lying on my deathbed, recalling how I helped produce a '57 Chevvy than "Hello, Larry". Maybe when the current "Titans of e-commerce" graduate high school, they'll start developing standards, too. See what I'm trying to say? Rittenhouse will initially create and market its own hobby-exclusive line of licensed Star Trek and Twilight Zone trading card= s and collectibles. Charendoff, formerly the Entertainment Director at Fleer/SkyBox, will serve as President of Rittenhouse Archives and run its day-to-day operations. "This is an extremely exciting time to be launching a new hobby business. There are so many positive changes taking place in this market with collectors pursuing newer and more innovative products in different formats," said Charendoff. "Science fiction, in particular, leads the entertainment category, and Star Trek continues to be one of its most enduring and successful properties. I look forward to continuing the excitement I helped to create with Fleer/SkyBox=92s Star Trek: The Origin= al Series trading card series through Rittenhouse=92s line of new and innova= tive Star Trek and Twilight Zone products." Rittenhouse=92s first product will launch in September with Star Trek: Th= e Original Series In Motion, the first-ever all-lenticular Star Trek card series which will feature 24 different cards in its base set, plus 6 Soun= d In Motion audio cards. Each card in the series measures 5"x7" and feature= s multiple lenticular (or motion) sequences. "The combination of multiple lenticular scenes makes these cards incredib= ly dynamic," said Charendoff. "And the addition of 10-second sound bites wil= l make the Sound In Motion cards even more dynamic. The response to this product in my research and discussion with Star Trek dealers and collecto= rs has been overwhelmingly positive." Star Trek: The Original Series In Motion will be limited to 8,000 sequentially numbered boxes, and is believed to be the most limited hobby product ever created for the sci-fi classic. Each box will contain 20 pac= ks, with one Sound In Motion card included as a box topper. Each pack will contain 3 lenticular cards with a suggested retail price of $4.99 per pac= k. A custom album will also be available, complete with plastic sheets to ho= use the entire set. After Star Trek: The Original Series In Motion, Rittenhouse will follow i= n November with the first-ever trading card series based on the original Twilight Zone TV program. Rittenhouse will include in every box an averag= e of 2 autographs from 12-15 leading stars who appeared on the classic sci-= fi show. Autographs will include William Shatner, Rod Taylor, Kevin McCarthy= , Bill Mumy, Anne Francis, Earl Holliman, Vera Miles, Martin Milner, Richar= d Kiel and other top stars. "The Twilight Zone is without question the greatest science fiction progr= am never to have appeared on trading cards =96 until now," said Charendoff. = "The reason is that CBS simply never had the rights to use the actors, but tha= t is changing. I have had overwhelmingly enthusiastic responses from all of the actors contacted to date, and we are going back and remastering the original films to create the most visually stunning card set possible. "The insertion of 2 autographs in every box of The Twilight Zone cards al= so breaks new ground in the entertainment hobby market. These are not autographs for the sake of autographs, but signatures from some of the mo= st prolific Hollywood actors, and the quantities of these autographs will be plentiful enough for dealers and collectors to find any one card and to build complete sets without going broke." Rittenhouse=92s The Twilight Zone trading cards will be printed in a traditional, 2.5"x3.5" format and come in packs of 9 cards for a suggeste= d retail price of $1.99. Each 36-pack box will average 2 autographs, and th= e entire production run is estimated at 5,000-6,000 boxes. Optionally, if you can think of something particularly heart-felt for us to say as a group, mention it. No humor, no cornball Trek references, just sincere sentiments please. On Wednesday, I will compile the list, draft the letter (which will probably end up being something of a book, as was the case with Gene's note), print it out nicely, and dispatch it. Try to keep your notes to me as brief as possible, as there is the potential for high volume, and I don't want this effort spoiled by an overloaded hard drive. Please feel free to email this article to friends or make it available via other Star Trek Internet resources. This is by no means a "USENET-only" effort, and I want to collect the names of as many well-wishers as possible. One other privacy note. Well at the end of the Year a Audet check on the Winning ticket number was posted in a local Sacrament Paper. and Guess what? Since I never scratch it and held on to it too long figure it make a great Unuseal Star Trek Item to sell later I was surprize that By matching the number on the back of the ticket was one of the winning top prize tickets. AAAAAAAAAahggg. Well now it just another useless Star Trek collectable. Ticket 167-120685-5136 was one of the unclaim winners. Since I didn't want to scratch the nice picture off. and I tuck it away for safe keeping. Never beleaving I would not win it anyway and thought it would be a nice collectable to add to rest of my Trek stuff. I never scratch it to find out if I did or not during the promation. So I guess that why I'm getting rid of this stuff. Every time I look at those tickets I get mad at myself. Now it just another piece of cardboard with a pretty picture on it that I spent a $1 for it. So figure I let some other Trek Fan get them before I really get mad and Burn them. Oh well my lost. Somebody elses gain and good story to go with them and to verifie this is no joke Check with the Sacramento paper 1996. *** Lynne I wonder how much it would take to buy a soapbubble if there was only one in the world ( Mark Twain) James & Lynne Stewart http://www.jklm.net/index.html KLM Enterprises, Inc. 2805 Oakcliff Ct Johnson City, TN 37601 Home of the AMOK TIMES NEWSLETTER-Info on Star Trek Cards KLM CARDS-Trek cards and stuff for sale! The first three I know came from Skybox but I am unsure of the last. 1. Slick paper, nice color, Title and Categories in red, Small Skybox logo at bottom with 1992 copyright. 2. Regular paper, looks like done on a color copier with only blue and black toner. Text wise it's an exact duplicate of #1 3. Regular paper, Blue heading and paramount trademark, rest in black, Large Skybox logo at bottom with no copyright year. Many of the Category headings and card titles are different that #1 & 2. 4. This one looks like a photocopy of #3 in only black with one exception... The Large Skybox logo at the bottom has a 1993 copyright Let me know if you need scans of any of them and if so what quality and format. -J!m mailto:encore@xmission.com To Unsubscribe from TrekChat send and put "unsubscribe trekchat" in the body without the quotes. -- Previous message archives are available via WWW at: or via FTP at: ftp.xmission.com --in-- /home/ftp/pub/lists/trekchat/archive ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Jeff Jacob Subject: Re: (TrekChat) Date: Wed, 30 Jun 1999 23:09:18 -0400 Date: 30 Jun 1999 22:43:16 -0700 Archive and Unsubscribe information can be found at the bottom of this message. -- Lynne Stewart wrote: >Am working through a final stack of stuff, I have 4 b and w copies of >the Inaugural Edition checklists...the paper ones.
