Date: 05 Aug 1997 19:24:11 Interesting idea - What's your opinion? I want to start a company that will deal with production of composite materials. There is good market worldwide (mainly in well developed countries like Europe, North America, Japan, Korea). I have experience in the industry, necessary contacts with customers, proper education but lack sufficient funds to realize the project on my own. After some period of feasibility studies, I have found it viable to establish production in Eastern Europe and utilize their educated, skilled, but cheap workforce. With average salaries below $270/month that creates many unique opportunities. Many of these countries can ship their goods to countries of European Union and North America free of import duties that creates additional incentives for buyers of our products. Besides, that there is enough of local raw material to provide its reliable and cost efficient supply. Calculations show good cost efficiency and attractive profits (on average 40-50% per sold product and cash-inventory-cash cycle near 1.5 months). The total value of the project is about US$4,5M and to be arranged through loans, government assistance (one more benefit of establishing production in Eastern Europe), and issue of stock. To qualify for credit lines from banks and leasing firms we have to get about 30% of funds through issue of common stock and government assistance. Since the project will be realized in 2 stages the company will not require all 4.5M immediately. For first stage we will require about 55% of it, i.e. about $2.5M. 30 percent of the first stage is $750,000. It can be realistically secured through equity financing and government assistance. Currently, I have to start making first administrative arrangements, negotiating with underwriters, preparation of investment prospectus for filing it with security commissions, etc.,etc. However, I am short of $100,000 - $130,000. (It will be an American company. For maximum financial benefits, wholly owned local European subsidiary is thought) I could wait until I develop my private contacts and secure a partner who is able to finance the project, but I am afraid of loosing precious time. I want to start realization of the project as soon as possible and be ready to supply Europe with the product by the moment of first signs of economic recovery there. Other influencing factor is that dollar is near its 7 year highs and it will provide better value for machinery and equipment to be bought in Europe. Understanding enormous power of the Internet as a media channel, I decided to use it in the hope for assistance. I will appreciate your small contribution to sponsor me in my work on the project. Even $5 or $10 will help. Keep in mind that there are over 20M people connected to it. Even assistance coming from only 1% of these people will help substantially. Ok, I know that there is no "free lunch" and I offer you participation in the company that will be established. Your sponsorship will be credited towards your purchase of the company's stock at the first issue's price. Besides that you will receive preferential right to purchase more of the stock before it will be offered to the rest of the public. I think it is rather fair and attractive offer. If you are interested to help me, please send your small contribution to: >>If you are interested to help me please e-mail and I will send my address to you.<< Please do not forget to enclose your name and contact data. You are free not to disclose it, but please keep in mind that I will not be able to accept any later claims if I do not have your name on my records. Be sure that I am not going to use it for any other purpose than contacting you concerning your participation in the company. I expect to do it in about 6-8 months. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly. Thank you in advance. The last few weeks have found the GameSpot staff buzzing like Ferengis at a galactic swap meet. The reason? Our exclusive preview of Starfleet Academy, Interplay's latest addition to the Star Trek family. Trekkies and Trekkers alike have waited three and a half years for this game that will reunite some of the original Star Trek cast in a sim worthy of the name "Enterprise." Preview editors Trent Ward and Moira Muldoon have compiled a detailed list of the game's ships, missions, and characters. We've also included a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the game and a page of cool Trek links. But don't worry, we're not making this a spoiler: There will be plenty of strange new life and new civilizations for you to explore come September when the game is finally released. This week's Spotlight poll? Which will be more important to the success of Starfleet Academy: excellent gameplay or strict compliance with the Star Trek universe? Send your vote to me, nicole@gamespot.com, and I'll post the tally in GameSpot News on Friday, August 8. Whoever started this one and the one about some kid with cancer probably die laughing everytime they see how many people they have tricked. Both of these are a type of unwitting spam so when you see them do us all a favor and don't pass it on. However, if you ever receive an attached file in an email, and you don't know who sent it, DO NOT open or run the attached file. Your safe to read the email but the file could be a trojan horse program designed to do just about anything. It can't hurt you if you don't run it though so just delete it. -J!m At 08:48 PM 8/14/97 -0400, Tony Stroud wrote: > >Thought you guys might need to know this. I could also say I'm the list-owner and can get away with it . -----------------Announcement------------------- A new Star Trek fan comes into the world! Friday August 22, 1997 at 12:51 my wife delivered Cayden Hyde Hepworth, a healthy 20.5inch, 8lb 8oz boy. Mother and baby (and daddy) are doing fine. He's got 2 sisters and a brother and it's very unlikely he'll get any more (as we fixed it at the source). They are for sale all over the internet for anywhere from 250.00 to 285 for the set. Try Rikerman@aol.com he usually stocks some of the rarer items and I have dealt with him in the past quite a reasonable person.
