Date: 15 Apr 2001 23:42:03 +0900 Hi, everybody! I found that the design of Yello hompage is changed. I like this design than before. Have you seen it yet? Recently, I bought CD "motion picture" and "ECCENTRIX REMIXES". SQUEEZE PLEAZE and SHAKE AND SHIVER in MOTION PICTURE are very cool!! So I want to get "Squeeze Please"(Single) and "Squeeze Please Remixes". But these CDs aren't sold in HMV, TOWER RECORDS and any othre CD shops in Japan. Would you teach me how can I get these CDs in Japan or INTERNET. I can read Japanese or English. I hope to receive your information. The two Squeeze Please singles were released at the end of 1999 / beginning of 2000, so they are both probably deleted by now. However some second-hand shops probably still have them. I had a quick look at Total Recall and they have Squeeze Please available. (The web site is in English and German.) The catalog numbers for the German releases are 562 421-2 and 562 639-2. Both contain the 'Original Radio Version' which as far as I can tell is *the same* as the verson on Motion Picture. All the other mixes are by other non-Yello people, and therefore are not as good! Since I don't have anything new on Yello, perhaps this might be interesting. It's the project (or whatever you want to call it) of Alan Wilder (the guy who left Depeche Mode a couple of years ago) called RECOIL. I just got my hands and ears on one of his albums called "Unsound Methods", and it was just great. Tremendous landscapes of sound, perhaps even a hint of Yello in it. (just try to imagine Dieter instead of the different vocalists). At anyrate, give it a check. I'd also recomend the latest album from Recoil called "Liquid". The commercials for the new Warren Beatty movie Town and Country have been playing "The Race" in the background. Since the movie has yet to be released I don't know if it is on the soundtrack or not. And on a non-Yello related front since many of you are also Kraftwerk fans, I would highly recommend Wolfgang Flur's book "Kraftwerk - I Was A Robot". This edition was just printed in english and the first 2/3 of the book relate to Wolfgang's life story and working with Kraftwerk, the last 1/3 which is new to the book details the efforts of Hutter/Schneider to prevent the publishing. It's an interesting book, an easy read and it gives some good insights to a very mysterious band. Wolfgang also uses this platform to push his current efforts "Yamo". Based on what I read in the book, I found a copy of "Time Pie" and it is moderately good. It's good enough to warrant a second effort (which I believe is coming), and it gives a good account of what Kraftwerk might sound like if they would have continued to record, rather than ride their bicycles. Also responding to someone's posting on Recoil (Alan Wilder's efforts after Depeche Mode) I too am a big fan, although Liquid left me a little cold, Unsound Methods is a nice place to start. Liquid features mostly women vocalists and they all seem to be very angry, the balance of women vocalists to male vocalists on Unsound is very good. And don't get me wrong, I have nothing against women vocalists but Liquid pushes the envelope. One last thing, in Flur's book he mentions that Yello have started doing music for commercials in Switzerland, I would assume that it's for Re-watch, but does anyone know of yello doing new music for commercials? # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info yello" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email yello@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # Yello discography available at http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?yello ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Sheldon Stern Subject: Re: (yello) Date: Sun, 29 Apr 2001 15:48:17 -0600 Date: 29 Apr 2001 19:31:02 -0700 bdawson wrote: > While I'll agree it has been very quiet on the Yello front, I do have some > news. I was in the kitchen when I first heard the commercial earlier this week, but dimissed the thought. I thought it sounded like the Race!! I did see the movie this weekend, and there was one or 2 scenes(simular to Ferris Buellers day off) with all sorts of hanky panky going on. The drums in the background seemed very very Yello'ish. I couldnt detect any other Yello music in the movie though. The movie was very good! > I would assume that it's for Re-watch, Just to imform the list, Dieter is no longer involved with ReWATCH.
