Whats UP ?

A New "Tuff Shed"

In case you were looking for me... I've been hiding at the new Tuff Shed. Actually its a log cabin I have been building since September of 93. I built it on a 6 acre lot that was bought back before mountain bikes were invented. Since then Moab (the nearest real town) has turned into a mountain bike mecca or zoo depending on your point of view. I consider Moab a zoo but then again I am a conservationist. (They say a conservationist is a person who already owns a cabin in the woods) This has been the source of inspiration for the lizard ranch.

Before I built the cabin I had an 8x10 Tuff Shed on the lot that I called home. You may have been to one of the famous Lizard Roasts held at that old shed. The log walls and roof was done by my neighbor Dave Wagstaff and some others in the valley. As for the interior, plumbing, electrical, painting and just about everything else I did myself during many weekends and vacations. (Vacation ?, You call that a Vacation ?).

Anyway, with hot water, electricity, flush toilet, shower and propane heater it beats the Tuff Shed hands down.

Cabin Front This is the front of the cabin. The cliff behind raises 300 feet, levels off, then raises an additional 700 feet.

No one is sneaking up to me on this side !
This is the back as you would see it when you drive up. We have just one paved road in the valley and I hope they keep it that way. Cabin Back
Porch View Ahhh ... the porch, My favorite spot.

Many a beer has been drunk here after a hard day of rounding up lizards. There is about 40 acres of BLM land in front that no one but a rock dove could build on. Life is rough.... NOT.

By the by, the tower in the background is Castleton Tower. Rated one of the top 100 classic climbs in the world.

Been there and done that !

Castle Valley, Moab and Southern Utah in general is an amazing area. Castle Valley has so far held off any commercial encroachment. We do however have a Bed and Breakfast that has been in the valley for decades. The Castle Valley Inn has been given an exemption from the ban on businesses due the fact that it has been here so long. Check out their web page it is incredible, complete with movies in and around Castle Valley.

I do have neighbors in Castle Valley, some even live in cyberspace. One of my neighbors has a home page with pics of the valley. His name is Carl Anderson, check it out.

Let's go to Castle Valley

So can you get there from here ? No, but if you have a car or bike follow the map to get to my place. The first map I have shows the General Directions to Castle Valley.  The second map is a SECRET map showing where I am  EXACTLY in Castle Valley. This map is password protected so you need to ask Mike for the SECRET ID and PASSWORD that will let you in. Once you have that you can click on the "Secret" map to find Mike ...
