Re: MtMan-List: Flask heads on Powder Horns



With regard to the flask heads, the question is not how long they have
been around but whether or not you can document them in the western fur
trade.  I wouldn't doubt that some of the wealthy people who "toured"
the west came equipped with the finest stuff money could but at the
time. But that doesn't mean that these items could be classed as
commonly available to the fur trappers or traders.  I can't say that I
have seen any but I will keep my eye open and take a look back through
the Museum of the Fur Trade Quarterlys to see what I can find.  I do
know that they were commonly associated with shotguns (for both shot and
powder) and later with revolvers.
