If Beau had been able
to think such things, he might have been afraid that the cave would fill
up completely with water. Being a cat, he just sat quietly and waited
to see what would happen next. The little mouse, who had seen this
before many times, squeaked, "Wait, it will be dry soon."
In a few minutes, the water was gone. Beau gently picked up the mouse and jumped down to the cave floor. The mouse skittered away, perhaps afraid that the cat might think he should be dinner. |
