Parts arrived in good shape. Gotta LOVE that nose cone!
Ejection Baffle (w plywood) and 24mm Engine Mount Used:
Ejection baffle w 500# Kevlar line! Baffle ends tacked on w super glue, then white glue on both sides. Super glued knot too!
7-inch extension tube and highly-technical way of measuring length of Kevlar!
Biggest ball-bearing, locking swival I could find!
Too much 3/8 inch elastic to stuff! Will probably use 1/4 inch instead.
24mm Engine mount well-glued in! Fin fillets drying, pods completed. Elmer's white glue used thru out.
Automotive filler primer used on fin surfaces.
Some primer/painting done. REALLY need to finalize paint scheme! Ready to add dowels (Cool!)
Spent months trying to decide what paint to use, until I found this at Home Depot!!:
Filling in the gap w Minwax wood filler mixed w a few drops of water.
Black primer on "Command Capsule", inside of 3 "engines" are orange, green tape where the black primer will show.
Ready for white primer:
Multi-Color Purple glitter spray turned out great!
Walk around it and see red, blue, green, orange, yellow specs pop up - looks very Cosmic!
Construction Finsihed! Ready for decals. Used 1/4 inch elastic.
Decals on and 4 coats of Gloss Sparurethane clear coat. Weighs 5.57 oz (178 grams) - no chute or engine
Could have put more detail on nose cone, but I got too excited and finished it!
The finish was a bit rough, but decals went on pretty good (No Micro Sol/Set tho)
Glamour Shot!
