Sister Lucy B Young was a widow of Brigham Young (THE ONE AND ONLY!). Susa Young Gates (daughter) deeded the property this home is built on to Lucy Bigelow Young in 1897 after her mother decided to sell her homein St. George, and to build in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Lucy Bigelow Young resided here in the late 1890's. On Monday, July 10, 1893 the house was blessed by LDS President Joseph F. Smith. Lucy married Brigham at age 16 at Winter Quarters on the westward trail. She lived most of her life in the Lion House. Brigham Young and Lucy had 3 children; Amelia Young, Eudora Lovina Young, and Rhoda Mabel Young. Lucy B. Young died at her home on February 3rd, 1905. Mrs. Young was in the seventy-fifth year of her life, and had lived in Utah for 58 years, surviving her husband, President Brigham Young, 27 years. The children (Susa Young Gates and Rhoda Mabel Young Sanborn) regained the property after Mrs. Lucy Bigelow Young's death in 1905.
