| Sept. 24-27 | Lhasa - Visit The Potala, Drepung and Nechung Monasteries, The Jokhang, Barkhor Square, Ramoche Temple, assemble bikes, try to ride to Sera Monastery (got lost), arrange truck, driver, guide and cook, buy food |
| Sept. 28 | Bike Lhasa to bottom of Khamba La Pass (90 km. level and mostly paved) |
| Sept. 29 | Over Khamba La, camp on shore of Yamdrok Tso, half way to Nagartse |
| Sept. 30 | Over Karo La (5045 m), camp before Simi La |
| Oct. 1 | Over Simi La to Gyantse |
| Oct. 2 | Rest day. Visit Pelkor Chode Monastery and Gyantse Kumdum. |
| Oct. 3 | Long day (60 miles) to Shigatse. |
| Oct. 4 | Rest day. |
| Oct. 5 | Over Tra (Tso) La, camp near Rhe Chu River. |
| Oct. 6 | Over Tsuo La. Camped on road to Sakya monastery. |
| Oct. 7 | Visited Sakya monastery, rode to base of Gyamtso La. |
| Oct. 8 | Over Gyamtso La (17,121 ft, 5220 m.), camped 2 hours before Shekar intersection. |
| Oct. 9 | Bike to Everest base camp turnoff. Took truck up Pang La (17,056 ft., 5200 m.) and rode to camp a few miles past Pazhus. |
| Oct. 10 | Bike to Rongbuk monastery. Strong headwinds! Stayed in hotel near monastery. Spectacular views of Mt. Everest. |
| Oct. 11 | Walked 8 km. to Everest Base Camp, visited monk at Cave monastery. |
| Oct. 12 | Bike back to base of Pang La. Took truck up, rode down to camp at Phung Chu River. |
| Oct. 13 | Bike to camp 20 km. past Tingri. Much anticipated hot springs were a big disappointment. Locals had arrived in mass. |
| Oct. 14 | Bike to base of Lalung La. |
| Oct. 15 | Over Lalung La and Tong La. Beginning of the BIG downhill! |
| Oct. 16 | Spectacular downhill ride along Bhote Koshi through deep gorge into Nepal. Stayed in Kodari on Nepal side. Truck returned to Lhasa. |
| Oct. 17 | Long day to Dhulikhel. First shower (cold) since Shigatse (also cold). |
| Oct. 18 | Easy day to Kathmandu!. First hot shower since Gyantse! |
