; Today's scene is another unfamiliar view of Seahorse Valley of 
; the Mandelbrot set.  Actually, the scene is more a Julia set 
; than a Mandelbrot set, being sliced as it is at an angle double 
; rotated only 1 and 1 degrees from the true Julia orientation.

; This is the kind of thing I usually pass quickly by when on the 
; search for a worthy fractal image, but today for some reason I 
; decided to stop halfway and make a FOTD from what I found there.
; 
; I calculated the image with the passes=b option, which works the 
; fastest with this image.  This option misses a few insignificant 
; loops that are caught by passes=1, but that option takes 12 
; minutes to calculate the scene.
; 
; The name "Sinuous Arms" does not refer to a fancy hotel; it 
; describes the main features of the image.  I was undecided 
; whether to rate the image at a 6 or a 7.  I finally decided on a 
; measly 6.  If I had put more effort into the colors, I might 
; have raised it to a 7.
; 
; The calculation time of 2-1/2 minutes is within reason, though 
; viewing the finished image on the FOTD web site is even more

; Tuesday here at Fractal Central was far too hot for cat comfort, 
; and for human comfort also, for that matter.  The temperature of 
; 95F 35C was better suited for Arizona than Pennsylvania, and the 
; fractal cats must have agreed.  We had a tough time getting them 
; to move from the cool floor.
; 
; My day was reasonably pleasant.  The next FOTD will be posted in 
; 24 hours.  Until then, take care, and don't make a pact with the 
; fractal devil.  He always demands payment in full.
