But it's not what would ; be expected at this location. The entire parent fractal has ; been rotated so that the negative X-axis cuts through the bud at ; this point, and things almost always get somewhat chaotic near ; the X-axis of fractals with fractional exponents of Z. ; ; The rating of a ? means that I was undecided on how to rate the ; image. On one hand, it's something never before seen; on the ; other hand, it's just another picture of a minibrot with a fancy ; basin around it. ; ; The name "Testing the Second" is a re-arrangement of the first ; title that came to mind -- "The Second Test". There was a first ; version of the same scene that failed miserably. The whole ; image is still little more than a test, which is another reason ; why I could not decide on a rating. ; ; The calculation time of 1/100 second under 2 minutes is fast ; enough to keep boredom at bay, yet slow enough to allow time to ; pour a drink in preparation for the grand revelation of the ; never-before-seen image. ; ; Those who would rather not run a parameter file may view the ; full image in hi-def, rendered by Hal Lane and posted to the ; current FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; Paul's original FOTD web site is still at: ; ; ; ; though it has not been updated in a while. ; ; I think we'll begin uploading stuff to my own FOTD web site on ; Monday, so be prepared for an upcoming announcement. ; ; Except for a heavy but brief snow shower in the morning, Sunday ; was a typical midwinter day here at Fractal Central, with ample ; sun and a temperature of 34F +1C. The fractal cats took full ; advantage of the sun while it was shining, and fled to the ; warmth of the shelf over the heat when the sun sank beneath the ; top branches of a tree across the road. The humans had an ; active but not hectic day. The next FOTD will be posted in 24 ; hours. Until then, take care, and sometimes the answer to a ; perplexing problem is found where least expected. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jamth@mindspring.com ; jimmuth@aol.com ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Testing_the_Second { ; time=0:01:59.99-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=MandelbrotBC3 function=ident logmap=214 center-mag=-1.189344865796988/+0.00123281218592462\ /2.17847e+010/1/2.57/-0 params=2.002/0/0.1/0 float=y maxiter=1200 periodicity=6 inside=255 mathtolerance=0.05/1 colors=000Q0PS0QU0RW0SY0T_0Ua0Vc0We1Xg2Yi3Zk4_m5an\ 6bm7ci7`f6Yb6V_6SW5PT5MP5JM4GI4DF4AB37834531762892\ AB2BE2DG2EJ2GM3HO3JR3KT3MW3NY3CyFHsDMnCQhAVc9_Z8cT\ 6hO5mJ4qD2v81z30t6Do9PjC`eFlaMnYSpUYrQctMivIoxEuya\ VucWaeXJfX0d`3bc6`g8ZjBZmEdqGjtJlwLjtJdqIZnGUkFPiD\ LfCHcAF`9EZ7DW6BT4AQ39O2DS5HV8LYBO`EScHWfK_iNblQfo\ TjrWmuYjp_gl`egbbcc_ZeYVfVRgSMiQIjNDlK9mI5ncFTxP7s\ SCoVGpZJqaMrdPshStkVunYri_odal_biVdfQf8GV8GV8GU7GU\ 7FU7FU7FU7FU7FU7FU7FU7EU7EU7EU7EU7EU6EU6DU6DU6DU6D\ U6DU6DU6DU6CT6CT6CT6CT5CT5CT5BT5BT5BT5BT5BT5BT5BT5\ AT5AT5AT4AT4AT4AT4AT49T49T49S49S49S49S48S48S48S38S\ 38S38S38S37S37S37S37S37S37S36S36S26S26S26S26R26R25\ R25R25R25R25R25R24R14R14R14R14R14R14R13R13R13R13R1\ 3R13R22Q13R13R13R14R14R14S15S15S15S16S16T16T17T17T\ 17T18T18U18U18U19U19U19V1AV1AV1AV1BV1BV1BW1CW1CW1C\ W1DW1DX1DX1DX1EX1EX1EXzzz } frm:MandelbrotBC3 { ; by several Fractint users e=p1, a=imag(p2)+100 p=real(p2)+PI q=2*PI*fn1(p/(2*PI)) r=real(p2)+PI-q Z=C=Pixel: Z=log(Z) IF(imag(Z)>r) Z=Z+flip(2*PI) ENDIF Z=exp(e*(Z+flip(q)))+C |Z|
