[6.5]) ; Id: <1.5.4.16.20110904185623.1367f7c0@pop.earthlink.net> ; --------- ; ; FOTD -- September 04, 2011 (Rating 6.5) ; ; Fractal visionaries and enthusiasts: ; ; Today's image is named "Tangent to What?". The name refers to ; the 'atan' outside fill that created the slightly unusual ; pattern surrounding the central minibrot. ; ; The word 'slightly' explains the humble rating of a 6-1/2. Had ; the scene been a bit more unusual, the rating might have been a ; point or two higher. ; ; The image is a scene in the period-15 radical on the southwest ; shore line of the Z^(1.998)+C Mandeloid as it appears 3 levels ; up the hyperladder. The parent fractal resembles an everyday ; Mandelbrot set rotated about 30 degrees CW, so that the negative ; X-axis passes through the south branch of Seahorse Valley. ; ; In these almost-whole-number Mandeloids, most of the action lies ; along the negative X-axis. But with the MandelbrotBC3 formula, ; Mandeloids may be rotated so that any desired part is ; intersected by the X-axis, giving the ability to subject any ; desired part of the almost-M-set to distortion. ; ; The calculation time of just under 6 minutes is too long for ; comfort. Once again, thank goodness for the web sites. ; ; The official FOTD web site with the finished images may be ; accessed at: ; ; ; ; The high definition images are at: ; ; ; ; The original web site with 14-1/2 years' FOTD images is at: ; ; ; ; The day began with fog here at Fractal Central. At 9am a brief ; but lively thunder shower passed over, which was followed by a ; warm and unpleasantly muggy morning and a rather hot muggy early ; afternoon. Another brief but heavy thunder shower passed over ; around 3pm, doing nothing but adding more humidity. The high ; temperature of 86F 30C combined with a humidity around 90 ; percent kept things feeling like the Pacific end of the Panama ; Canal, which BTW is farther east than the Atlantic end. ; ; The fractal cats have never been to Panama, and never will be, ; but they know what to do in muggy weather. They stretched out ; in the coolest place they could find. The humans spent the day ; relaxing. (The more we do it, the more we like it.) The next ; FOTD will be posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and who ; will be the one to get rich making shoes for bigfoot? When we ; find one, it is sure to need some pretty big shoes. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jimmuth@earthlink.net ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Tangent_to_What? { ; time=0:05:53.28-SF5 on P4-2000 reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=MandelbrotBC3 function=recip passes=1 center-mag=-0.760974178524143/+0.0000000293206752/\ 8.129853e+010/1/22.5/0 params=1.998/0/3/0 float=y maxiter=3500 inside=255 outside=atan periodicity=6 mathtolerance=0.05/1 colors=000dsidsgdsedscdsads_dsYdsWdsUdsSdrQdrOcrMc\ rKcqIbqHbqHbpIapIapJapJ`oJ`oK`oK_nK_nL_nLZnLZmMZmM\ YmMYlNYlNYlNXlOXkOXkPWkPWjPWjQVjQVjQViRUiRUiRUhSTh\ SThSThTSgTSgTSgURfURfVRfVQfVQeWQeWPeWPdXPdXOdXOdYO\ cYNcYNcZNbZNbZMb_Mb_Ma`La`La`L`aK`aK`aK`bJ_bJ_bJ_c\ IZcIZcIZdHZdHYdHYeGYeGXfGXfFXfFXgFWgEWgEWhEVhDVhDV\ iDViCUiCUjCUj8ViAUjBUjCUjDTjETkFTkGSkHSkISkKRlLRlM\ RlNQlOQlPQmQPmRPmSPmTOmVOnWOnXNnYNnZNn_Mo`MoaMobLo\ cLoeLpfKpgKphKpiJpjJqkJqlIqmIqnIqpHrqHrrHrsGrtGruG\ svFswFsxFszDryEsyFsyGsxHsxIsxJsxKswLtwMtwNtvOtvPtv\ QtvRtuStuTuuUuuVutWutXutYusZus_us`vsavrbvrcvrdvqev\ qfvqgvqhwpiwpjwpkwplwomwonwoownpxnqxnrxnsxmtxmuxmv\ xnwymvxmvxmvxmvwmvwmvwmvvmuvmuvmuugtcerccpcanc_lcY\ jcWhcUfcTdcSbcS`cR_cRZbQYaQX`PW_PVZPUYOTXOSWNRVNQU\ MPTMOSLNRLMQKLPKKOKJNJIMJHLIGKIFJHEIHDHGCGGBFFAEF9\ DF8AF8AF8AF8AF8AF9AF9AF9A } frm:MandelbrotBC3 { ; by several Fractint users e=p1, a=imag(p2)+100 p=real(p2)+PI q=2*PI*fn1(p/(2*PI)) r=real(p2)+PI-q Z=C=Pixel: Z=log(Z) IF(imag(Z)>r) Z=Z+flip(2*PI) ENDIF Z=exp(e*(Z+flip(q)))+C |Z|
