Today's image is an ; almost-Julia set of a bit of left-over debris in the center of ; the parent's main bay. ; ; I call the image an 'almost' Julia set because the slice is ; double-rotated 0.2,0.2 degrees from the true Julia orientation. ; This slight departure from the true Julia direction preserves ; the irregular distribution seen in the Mandelbrot aspect of the ; left-over debris that fills the flattened oval outer shape. ; ; The image reminds me of nothing quite as much as a view of a ; rich star field as seen through a wide-field telescope. The ; name "Fractal Nebula" points to this similarity. ; ; The rating of an 8 could be a bit liberal coming from a person ; like myself, who tends to the conservative side, even while ; supporting some rather progressive ideas. ; ; The calculation time is a fast 25 seconds -- quite speedy enough ; to hold impatience at bay. ; ; Show your total freedom from the task of calculation by ; downloading the finished image from the official FOTD web site ; at: ; ; ; ; Show your appreciation of fine art by viewing the high- ; definition version at: ; ; ; ; And show your long-term commitment to fractals by visiting the ; original FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; Another of those nondescript mixes of sun and clouds prevailed ; here at Fractal Central today, making life confusing for the ; fractal cats, who were undecided whether to take their afternoon ; naps on the window shelf or on the shelf by the heat. The ; temperature of 41F +5C was a couple degrees above normal for ; what is supposed to be the coldest time of the winter. ; ; Meanwhile, the resident humans had few decisions to make, and ; simply took things as they happened. The next FOTD will ; hopefully be posted at its scheduled time. Until then, take ; care, and work hard to make the world safe for reason. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jimmuth@earthlink.net ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Fractal_Nebula { ; time=0:00:25.00 SF5 at 2000MHZ reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=JulibrotMulti function=recip passes=1 center-mag=0/0/0.1386667 params=5/6/89.8/0/89.8/0/\ -0.703/0/0/0 float=y maxiter=450 inside=0 logmap=3 symmetry=xaxis periodicity=6 colors=00090I90G80E70C60A508506UUzUUUUUU7S16X65`B4\ eG3iL2mQ5kO8jNBiMDhLGgKJfJLdHOcGRbFTaEW`DZ_C`ZBV_I\ Q_PL`WF`bAai5ap7`m9`jA`gC`dD`bHYZLVWOSSSPPWMLZJIbG\ EfmBim7mm4pm1mm5km8hmBfmEdmHacK_cOXcRVcUTcXQc_OcbM\ `eL_cL_aK_`K_ZK_YJ_WJ_VIZTIZSIZQHZPHZNGZMGZKGZJJYR\ MXZPWfSWnUYjW_gYad_c`aeYcgVdiRfkOhmLjoHlqEnsBot8pp\ DqmHrjLrgPsdTtcXuc`ucdvchwclwcpqclkciecf`ccVm`PmXK\ mUEmR8mO3mLmczmczmczmczmczmczmczmczmczmczImLJmLLmL\ MmLNmLOmLLmOJmRGmUEmWBmZ9ma6md4mf9m`DmVZcC`cBacAcc\ Adc9fc8gc8ic7ic8jc7kc7lc7mc7nc7oc7pc7pm7qm6rm6sm6t\ m6um6vm6wm6wm6vm7vm7um8um8tm8tm9tm9sQ9sRArTArUAqWB\ qXBqZBp`CpaCocCodDnfDngDniEmjEmlElmFloFnqElpFkpGjp\ HipIhoJgoKfoLeoLdnMbnNanO`nP_mQZmRYmRXmSWlTVlUUlVS\ lWRkXQkXPkYOkZNj_Mj`LjaKjbGkeIjcJjbKiaLi`NiZOhYPhX\ QhWRgVTgTUgSVfRWfQXePZeN_eM`dLadKcdIdcHecGfcFgbEib\ CjaBkaAla9m`8o`6p`5q_4r_3 } frm:JulibrotMulti {; draws all slices of Julibrot pix=pixel, u=real(pix), v=imag(pix), a=pi*real(p2*0.0055555555555556), b=pi*imag(p2*0.0055555555555556), g=pi*real(p3*0.0055555555555556), d=pi*imag(p3*0.0055555555555556), ca=cos(a), cb=cos(b), sb=sin(b), cg=cos(g), sg=sin(g), cd=cos(d), sd=sin(d), p=u*cg*cd-v*(ca*sb*sg*cd+ca*cb*sd), q=u*cg*sd+v*(ca*cb*cd-ca*sb*sg*sd), r=u*sg+v*ca*sb*cg, s=v*sin(a), aa=-(real(p1)-2), bb=imag(p1)-0.0000000000000000001, c=p+flip(q)+p4, z=r+flip(s)+p5: z=z*z*fn1(z^(aa)+bb)+c |z|< 100000000 } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint ;
