Two East Valley elephants again appear in ; the scene, but today something has gone wrong with them. The ; elephants have not only lost control of their buds, they have ; lost their legs. Instead of standing guard over their buds, the ; elephants are sitting on them, and now totally legless, appear ; to be on the verge of abandoning their duties. (I have no idea ; how elephants with no legs can survive in the first place. It's ; a question that still needs an answer.) ; ; To do these terrible things to the steadfast elephants, I ; calculated the East Valley area of the Mandelbrot set at an ; angle double rotated 1 and 1 degrees from the Julia orientation. ; When viewed from this angle, the features that define the ; Mandelbrot aspect are enlarged to many times their normal size. ; At the same time, the Mandelbrot buds and Julia elephants shift ; position, making it pretty much a random guess which bud the ; morphing elephants will find themselves standing over. In ; today's image the Mandelbrot buds are of order 42 and 41, which ; means that the elephants are not quite the same ones that ; appeared in yesterday's FOTD, though they are close enough ; however to make little difference. ; ; The color palette is the same unspectacular, earthen one that I ; used in yesterday's image; and once again I have declined to ; give a rating to the image. I consider it amusing to distort ; the eastern elephants, but I do not expect all fractalists, ; especially those who prefer brilliant colors, to find equal ; enjoyment. ; ; The name "Variation-1" simply numbers the variation of the ; original theme. More variations will appear on the days to come. ; ; Today's image is not created with the high-speed type=mandel ; formula, so it requires a much longer calculation time of 6 ; minutes to finish. The FOTD web sites can cut the viewing time ; to a tiny fragment of this however. ; ; The finished GIF image is posted in 640x480 resolution at: ; ; ; ; A high-definition rendering is online at: ; ; ; ; All the past FOTD images and discussions are available at: ; ; ; ; The days continue to get better here at Fractal Central. Today ; brought lots of hazy sun and a temperature of 70F 21C, making it ; seem more like midsummer than the middle of spring. The clouds ; thickened later in the afternoon, but by then a good day was ; already in the bag. The fractal cats had a quiet day in the ; window. Apparently the dynamic duo had already cleared the ; neighborhood of unwanted stray tomcats. ; ; The humans had an average day, which is not as average as first ; appears. FL spent the day visiting with an old friend back in ; Baltimore, while I had FC to myself. The next FOTD will be ; posted in 24 hours. Until then, take care, and to find what's ; really behind the news, don't watch the TV news channels. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jimmuth@earthlink.net ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Variation-1 { ; time=0:06:00.00 SF5 at 2000MHZ reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=SliceJulibrot4 passes=t float=y center-mag=-0.2406969736493894/-0.0478088393359455\ /68.72852/1/13.15/0 params=89/0/89/0/0.26/0/0/0/2/0 maxiter=32767 inside=0 logmap=38 periodicity=6 colors=000fPMfQMfQMfRMfSNfTNfTNfUNfVOfVOfWOfXOfXOf\ YPfZPf_Pf_Pf`QfaQfaQfbQfcQfdRfdRfeRffRffSfgSfhSfhS\ fiSfjTfkTfkTflTfmUfmUfnUfnUfnUdnWcmXamY`lZZl_Yk`Xk\ aVjbUjcSieRifPhgOhhNgiLgjKfkIflHemGdnFclFbkEajE`hE\ _gD_fDZfDYdDXcCWbCUaCT_BSZBRYBQWAPVAOUANS9MR9KQ8JP\ 8JN8JM7IL7HK7GK6FK6EK8DKACKCBKEAKG9KI8JK7IM6HO5GQ4\ FP3EP2DO2CO2BO2AN29N29M29M28M28L28L28K28K28K28A28A\ 27A27I27I27H27F27A27A27F26F26F26C26D26F16K16K16H16\ K15K15K15K15K15K25K35K45K64K86KA8MCAOECQGDSIEUKFWM\ GYOH_QIaSJcUKeWMgYOi_QkaSh_QdYOaVMYSKVPHRMFOJEKGCH\ DADA8A76644N16M15L15L15K15K15K15K15K15K15K15L15M14\ N14O14P14Q14S14U14U14U14V14W14X13Y13_13a13c13c13d1\ 3e13f13g13h1Am2Am1Km1Km1Km1Um1Um1Um1Um1cm1cm1cm1cm\ 1mm1mm1mm1mm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1z\ m1zm1zm1zm1zm1zmAnmAlmAkmAimAzmAzmAzmAzmAzmAzmAzmA\ zmAzmAzmAzmAzmAzmAzmAz000 } frm:SliceJulibrot4 {; draws all slices of Julibrot pix=pixel, u=real(pix), v=imag(pix), a=pi*real(p1*0.0055555555555556), b=pi*imag(p1*0.0055555555555556), g=pi*real(p2*0.0055555555555556), d=pi*imag(p2*0.0055555555555556), ca=cos(a), cb=cos(b), sb=sin(b), cg=cos(g), sg=sin(g), cd=cos(d), sd=sin(d), p=u*cg*cd-v*(ca*sb*sg*cd+ca*cb*sd), q=u*cg*sd+v*(ca*cb*cd-ca*sb*sg*sd), r=u*sg+v*ca*sb*cg, s=v*sin(a), esc=imag(p5)+9 c=p+flip(q)+p3, z=r+flip(s)+p4: z=z^(real(p5))+c |z|< esc } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint ;
