I have named it "Two Half-Elephants". ; Actually, the name is not quite correct. The elephants in ; question are not exactly half-elephants, they are 12/25 ; elephants, which makes them a little less than half-elephants. ; ; The problem with today's elephants is that the parent fractal is ; not the Mandelbrot set, it is the Mandeloid that results when ; the expression Z^(1.48)+C is iterated 11 steps up the hyper- ; stairway with the floor function applied. This figure is a near ; shapeless blob, with a rudimentary East Valley. Today's scene ; lies on the south side of this valley. ; ; The curled trunks of the elephants are quite apparent, as are ; their fat rumps, but their middle sections seem to have ; vanished. The beasts still faithfully guard their appointed ; buds however, even though the buds are shrunken shriveled things ; that almost no one but a fractal fanatic would find interesting. ; ; The semi-elephants are filled with smaller semi-elephants, ; apparently all the way down. The image is also filled with ; minibrots, though I have made no effort to track them down. ; ; The name "Two Semi-Elephants" fairly describes the scene. Since ; by this time the elephant theme is a bit worn out, I declined to ; rate the image. ; ; The calculation time of 9-1/4 minutes is far more that what the ; image is worth. Here again, the FOTD web sites gallop to the ; rescue. ; ; Check in at the official FOTD web site to see the finished image ; without the need of calculating it. The web site may be ; accessed at: ; ; ; ; A high-definition version is online at: ; ; ; ; All the past FOTD's may be found at: ; ; ; ; The day began with heavy clouds and light sprinkles of rain here ; at Fractal Central, but by noon the clouds broke, leading to a ; partly cloudy afternoon with a temperature of 75F 24C. The ; fractal cats had a relatively normal day of sleeping anywhere ; they could find. With the warmer weather here, they no longer ; seek the afternoon sun. Meanwhile, the humans had a quiet day, ; except for FL, who spent the afternoon working in her garden. ; ; The next FOTD, a continuation of the elephant theme, is ; scheduled to be posted in 24 hours. From the way things have ; been going lately however, I would not be surprised if it were ; late. Until then, take care, and even the wisest among us know ; almost nothing. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jimmuth@earthlink.net ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Two_Semi-Elephants { ; time=0:09:15.00 SF5 at 2000MHZ reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=MandelbrotBC3 function=floor float=y center-mag=+0.1315118895857274/+0.0741804615612379\ /3827.567/1/-10.75/0 params=1.48/0/11/0 maxiter=50000 inside=0 logmap=50 periodicity=6 colors=000fPMfQMfQMfRMfSNfTNfTNfUNfVOfVOfWOfXOfXOf\ YPfZPf_Pf_Pf`QfaQfaQfbQfcQfdRfdRfeRffRffSfgSfhSfhS\ fiSfjTfkTfkTflTfmUfmUfnUfnUfnUdnWcmXamY`lZZl_Yk`Xk\ aVjbUjcSieRifPjgOihNiiLhjKgkIflHemGdnFclFbkEajE`hE\ _gD_fDZfDYdDXcCWbCUaCT_BSZBRYBQWAPVAOUANS9MR9KQ8JP\ 8JN8JM7IL7HK7GK6FK6EK8DKACKCBKEAKG9KI8JK7IM6HO5GQ4\ FP3EP2DO2CO2BO2AN29N29M29M28M28L28L28K28K28K28A28A\ 27A27I27I27H27F27A27A27F26F26F26C26D26F16K16K16H16\ K15K15K15K15K15K25K35K45K64K86KA8MCAOECQGDSIEUKFWM\ GYOH_QIaSJcUKeWMgYOi_QkaSh_QdYOaVMYSKVPHRMFOJEKGCH\ DADA8A76644N16M15L15L15K15K15K15K15K15K15K15L15M14\ N14O14P14Q14S14U14U14U14V14W14X13Y13_13a13c13c13d1\ 3e13f13g13h1Am2Am1Km1Km1Km1Um1Um1Um1Um1cm1cm1cm1cm\ 1mm1mm1mm1mm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1zm1z\ m1zm1zm1zm1zm1zmAnmAlmAkmAimAzmAzmAzmAzmAzmAzmAzmA\ zmAzmAzmAzmAzmAzmAzmAz000 } frm:MandelbrotBC3 { ; by several Fractint users e=p1, a=imag(p2)+100 p=real(p2)+PI q=2*PI*fn1(p/(2*PI)) r=real(p2)+PI-q Z=C=Pixel: Z=log(Z) IF(imag(Z)>r) Z=Z+flip(2*PI) ENDIF Z=exp(e*(Z+flip(q)))+C |Z|
