The difference is that we are looking at the scene ; from a different angle. ; ; The previous image was sliced in the Mandelbrot orientation; ; today's view is sliced in an orientation halfway between the ; Elliptic and Parabolic. The horizontal direction of the image ; is the real(c) axis of the Julibrot; the vertical direction lies ; halfway between the real(z) and imag(z) axes. ; ; The tendrils of the previous image no longer spiral from outside ; the frame into the central minibrot. At the angle of today's ; slice they form loops and cut-off arcs. These arcs should not ; be seen as things with only one extended dimension. They are ; actually things with three extended dimensions that curve in ; four-dimensional space. ; ; The minibrot itself bears no resemblance to the familiar ; Mandelbrot shape. It has changed into a kind of stretched open ; area. This shape is typical of minibrot complexes when viewed ; in the odd directions. ; ; The name "An Ellibolic Set" refers to the orientation of the ; slice.
