; Today's image rates a 7-1/2.  Because of its excess busyness I 
; could not rate it at an 8, but I did award myself an extra 
; half-point for the colors.  Extra color work was necessary.  For 
; some reason, this particular image is unusually difficult to 
; color.
; 
; The generating expression is the same as yesterday's, but with 
; the absolute value of the second exponent of Z lowered from -5 
; to -0.5.  This change clears most of the debris from the main 
; bay of the underlying Mandelbrot set of the parent fractal, 
; while at the same time eliminating much of the original 
; Mandelbrot outline.  An obvious minibrot lies at the northern 
; edge of the remaining main bay.  Today's scene lies in the 
; detail surrounding this minibrot.

; The name "Erupting Colors" indicates that I consider the colors 
; a bit too gaudy.  The calculation time of 4-1/3 minutes is too 
; slow to be a bargain, but the calculation can be avoided by 
; visiting the web sites.

; with blue skies, lots of sun and puffy white clouds.  The 
; temperature of 72F 22C kept the fractal cats, who are totally 
; indoor cats, quite satisfied.  The humans meanwhile had another 
; nondescript day, which needs no description.  The next FOTD will 
; be posted in 2 days unless an antiquing expedition planned for 
; tomorrow is cancelled, when the next FOTD will appear then.
