; Yesterday's image is part of a Julia set.  Today's image shows 
; the same scene sliced at a slightly different angle, so it is 
; not a pure Julia set.  The angular difference amounts to a mere 
; -0.02,+0.02 degrees of arc, but what a change this tiny offset 
; produces.

; Instead of a shield surrounded by a ring of trees, we have some 
; kind of blobby creature from deep in an unpleasant pit, which is 
; probably bubbling as it releases foul underground vapors.  A few 
; remnants of yesterday's trees are still visible around the 
; edges of the creature, but the intact ring of trees is gone.

; I named the image as I saw it -- "Creature from the Pit".

; The rating of an 8.5 does not imply that I prefer bubbling pits 
; or blobs to lush forests.  It merely states that I consider 
; today's image to be a small improvement over yesterday's.  And I 
; did work on yesterday's colors.

; The calculation time of 50 seconds will pass in a flash, though 
; the duration of fractal flashes is quite vague, and can vary 
; from the infinitesimal duration of some sub-atomic resonance 
; particles to the duration of the energy flash of the 'big-bang', 
; which is still detectable even after 13.7-billion years.

; Today, like yesterday, began with a brief rain shower that left 
; clouds to spoil the rest of the morning.  But unlike yesterday, 
; the sun broke through at midday, leading to a muggy afternoon 
; with a temperature of 82F 28C.

; The fractal cats paid little attention to the weather as they 
; went about their daily routine of sleeping, playing, and asking 
; for food.  Meanwhile, the humans went about their everyday work 
; routine without sleeping or playing.
