Last evening I actually ; found a passable fractal image in the parent mandeloid that ; results when the expression Z^(1.001)+C is iterated 37.21 levels ; up the hyperladder. That fractal appears as today's FOTD. ; ; The parent fractal is a squashed and distorted oval with mostly ; smooth edges on the southeast half and sawtooth edges on the ; northwest half. A most unexpected valley lies on the southern ; shore of the oval, while some slight irregularities appear on ; the southeast shore line. Today's image lies in these southeast ; irregularities. ; ; I named the image "Rainbow Rider", since the open area appears ; to have a head somewhat like a horse's, while the rest of the ; open space is drawn out into a rainbow-like arc. The smoothly- ; blended rainbow colors supplied the final inspiration. ; ; The open area in the image is not actually a minibrot, since it ; fills in if the maxiter is increased, but it is certainly more ; than I expected to find way down here in the bottom lands. ; ; The down side of the image is its calculation time, which at a ; half-hour is beyond all resemblance of reason. Luckily the web ; sites are online to save time and tempers. ; ; Check the completed image at: ; ; ; ; Enjoy the hi-def variations at: ; ; ; ; Look back at the past images at: ; ; ; ; Today was as close to perfect here at Fractal Central as it is ; possible to come. The blue sky, brilliant sun and temperature ; of 66F 19C could hardly have been improved upon. The fractal ; cat enjoyed the sun on his shelf, but the sun is now getting so ; high in the sky that it misses half the shelf. The humans ; meanwhile attended to everyday things. ; ; The next FOTD will be posted soon. Until whenever that might ; be, take care, and it appears someone is spreading ricin through ; the mail. I guess we'll have to ban either the mail or the ; castor bean plants. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jimmuth@earthlink.net ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Rainbow_Rider { ; time=0:30:00.00 SF5 at 2000MHZ reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=MandelbrotBC3 function=ident passes=1 center-mag=-3.15118/-3.4669/34.75141/1/-17.5/0 params=1.001/0/37.21/9900 float=y maxiter=4500 inside=0 logmap=-3110 periodicity=6 colors=000GcHFcJFcNEcKDcIDcGCcECcBBc9Bc7Ac5Ac1Ad3A\ d4Ad5Ad6Ad7Ad8Ad9AeAAeBAeCAeDAeFAeGAeHAfIAfJAfKAfL\ AfMAfNAfOAfPBfQCfRDfSEfTFfUGfVGfWHfXIfYJfZKf_Lf`Lf\ `MfaNfbOfcPfdQfeQffRfgSfhTfiUfjVfkWflWflXfmYfnZfo_\ fp`fq`frafsbftcfudfvefwdeyefwfguggthhrihpjiojimkjk\ lkjmkhnlfolepmcrnaqmbpmbolcnlcmkclkdkjdjjeiiehiegh\ ffhfeggdggcfgbfhaeh`ei_diZdiYcjXcjWbkVbkUakTalS`lR\ `mQ_mP_mOZnNZnMYoLYoKXoJXpIWpHWqGVqFVqEUrDUrCTsBTs\ 9StATsATsAUsBUsBUsBVsBVsCVsCWsCWsCXrDXrDXrDYrDYrEY\ rEZrEZrFZrF_rF_qF`qG`qG`qGbqGcqHdqHfqHgqLUnJXpH_qF\ brDesBht9ju7lv5nw6lu7jt7hs8gr8ep9co9anA`mAZlBXjCWi\ CUhDSgDQeEPdENcFLbFKaHJbJJbKIbMIbNIcPHcQHcSGcUGcVG\ dXFdYFd_Ed`EdbEedDeeDegCehCfjCfkBfmBfoAfpAgrAgs9gu\ 9gv9gqBemCdhEbdFa`H`WIZSKYNLWJNVFOUGQSHSRHTQIVPJWO\ JYNKZMK`LLaKMcIMeHNfGNhFOiEQkDRlCTnBWm5VoAUpFSqKRr\ OUsTZtYcuahw`mx_ryZwzYzxX } frm:MandelbrotBC3 { ; by several Fractint users e=p1, a=imag(p2)+100 p=real(p2)+PI q=2*PI*fn1(p/(2*PI)) r=real(p2)+PI-q Z=C=Pixel: Z=log(Z) IF(imag(Z)>r) Z=Z+flip(2*PI) ENDIF Z=exp(e*(Z+flip(q)))+C |Z|
