The impression of ; a forest of trees lies in the overall shading, not the finer ; details, which are more Mandelbrot than tree-like. ; ; Apparently, on planet Alpha-X, the air is also filled with ; flying insects, especially during the times of twilight, which ; is the time of day illustrated in the image. The clouds of bugs ; are scattered all over the background. ; ; The image was created by the MandNewt08 formula, which I wrote ; quite a few years ago. This formula is part of a series that ; was intended to do something that I have long since forgotten. ; The only thing I am sure of is that the series creates images ; that share both Mandelbrot and Newton characteristics. ; ; The rating of an 8 seems about right for the image, with a full ; point of the rating due to the coloring, which took about 45 ; minutes to get almost but not quite right. ; ; The calculation time of 2-3/4 minutes is close to FOTD average. ; The fastest way to enjoy the dusky forest scene is to view it in ; finished form on one of the FOTD web sites. ; ; To see the dusky scene without calculating it, surf over to the ; official FOTD web site at: ; ; ; ; and check the interesting variations at: ; ; ; ; The back images are online at: ; ; ; ; The cloudy breezy weather today was offset by a temperature of ; 73F 23C. Light rain showers began in the afternoon, but by post ; time had not amounted to much. The fractal cat passed most of ; the afternoon sleeping in my favorite chair and the rest of the ; time asking for food. The humans spent most of their time ; watching the TV news. ; ; The next FOTD will be posted in a day of two. Until whenever it ; actually appears, take care, and now it looks like we'll need ; tighter controls on home-made bombs. And we'll also need to ; keep more careful watch on those outgoing people with a lot of ; friends, who never do anything suspicious. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jimmuth@earthlink.net ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= A_Forest_on_AlphaX { ; time=0:02:45.00 SF5 at 2000MHZ reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=MandNewt08 passes=1 float=y center-mag=0.651181/-1.47796/6.963012/1/-62.5/0 params=0.941/-0.627/-0.909/-0.706/0.416/-0.527 maxiter=768 inside=bof60 logmap=yes periodicity=0 colors=0006Ac6Ac6Ac6Ac6Ac6Ac6Ac6Ac6Ac6Ac6Ac6Ac6Ac7\ Ac7Ac7Ac7Ac7Ac7Ac7Ac7Ac7Ac7Bc7Cc7Dc7Ec7Fc7Gc7Hc8Ib\ 8Jb8Jb8Ja8J`8J_8J_8JZ8JY8JY8JX8JW8JW8JV8JU8JT8JT9I\ S9IR9IR9HQ9GP9FP9EO9DN9CN9BM9AL99K98K97J96I95H95H0\ 0A00A00A00A00A00A00A00A00A00A00A00A00A00A00A00ABD8\ BE9CFADGBEGCFGDFGEGFFHFHIFIIFJIFKHELGEMFENEEPDDQCD\ RBDSADTADUADVADXACYACZAC_AC`ACaABbABcABcABcABdACeA\ DfABgA9hA7iA5jA0kA2lA4mA6nA7oA9pAAqABrACsAFtAGuAIv\ CFwCLwBMwBFwBQwARwAQw9Ow9Xw9Uw8Ww8Yw7_w7aw7bw6cw6b\ w6gw7dw8kw8hw9iwAiwAnwBmwCmwCnwDnwEowEowFowFpwGpwH\ pwHqwIqwJqwKrwMrwOswQswSswUtwWtwYtw_uwauwcuweuwguw\ iuwkuwmuwouwquwsuwuuwwuwzzwzzwzzwqtwotwmswkswjrwhr\ wfqwdqwcpwapw_owYowXnwVnwTmwRmwQlwOlwMkwKkwJjwHjwG\ jwHiwIiwJiwKhwLhwMhvNhvOhuPhuQhtRhtShsThsUhrVhrWhq\ XhqYhpZhp_ho`hoahobhnchnbgnegnffngenienkdnmcnocnqb\ msbmuamw`mz`mz_mzZmzZmzYm } frm:MandNewt08 {; Jim Muth z=c=(pixel*p1): a=z^p2+(c-1)*z-c b=p3*z^2+c-1 z=z-1*a/b 0.000000000000000000000000000001 <= |a| } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint ;
