The old ; friend is the curious Julia Z^(2.003)+C rectangle, which in ; today's image is located at the point where the arms branch out ; from the main trunk of the vaguely human figure. Actually there ; are an infinity of rectangles in the image, so don't try to ; count the extras. ; ; The new light is the fact that the image is not a pure Julia ; scene. It is double rotated 0.03,0.03 degrees, or 1.8,1.8 ; minutes, from the true Julia orientation. (Double rotation is a ; strange motion that is possible only in space of more than three ; dimensions.) 1.8 minutes of rotation does not seem to be much ; of a change, but when it is done very close to the Julia ; orientation it makes a big difference. In today's image it has ; totally obliterated the left half of the humanish figure. ; ; This rectangle is one of the first things I found when Fractint ; gained the ability to calculate fractional exponents, which I ; think was in 1992. The rectangle struck me at once. It has no ; right to be there. It just doesn't make sense. But there it is ; anyway, for all the world to see. ; ; Since the rectangle as well as the human-like figure has ; appeared so often as a FOTD, I could give the image no rating. ; It's still kind of pleasant to look at however, and with a ; calculation time of 25 seconds, it will cause no impatient ; fidgeting. ; ; An alternative way to view the image is to check it online at: ; ; ; ; A high-definition rendering is online at: ; ; ; ; And the back images are posted at: ; ; ; ; Near perfect weather made everyone happy here at Fractal Central ; today. The sky was a clear Photoshop (or old Kodachrome) blue ; with only a few small puffy white clouds, while the temperature ; reached a comfortable high of 77F 25C. The fractal cat made it ; through the day in true feline fashion, alternating between ; playing, eating and sleeping. The fractal humans had an average ; day, with nothing out of the ordinary to report, which is boring ; to report but was pleasant. ; ; The next FOTD is coming, and will be posted in a day or two. ; Until whenever that great moment arrives, take care, and what ; happened to the squatter who was dis-satisfied with his lot? ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jimmuth@earthlink.net ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= An_Old_Friend { ; time=0:00:25.00 SF5 at 2000MHZ reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=SliceJulibrot4 center-mag=0/-0.0248852\ /9.655172 params=89.97/0/89.97/0/-1.7435/0/\ 0.000175/0.073883/2.003/0 float=y maxiter=2400 inside=0 logmap=yes periodicity=6 colors=00070R70Q60Q60P60P60O60N50N50M50L50L50K40K4\ 0J40I40I40H40G30G30F30F30E30D20D20C20B20B21A12A139\ 1481581670761862973A85B96CA7DB9ECAFDBGEDIFEKGFMHHO\ HIPIJQJLRKMSKNTIOUGQVETWDWXCZYBaZAd_9g`8ja7mb6pc5p\ e4sgAwiKzkUtmcsomqqzkszkqziomgmcekUcjKajM_jQYjUVgV\ TeVRcVPaVN_VLYVIWWGUWESWCQWAOW8MWBOXEQYHSZJU_MW`PX\ `SZaU`bXbc_ddbeddgegifjkgmmhonhhfjb_lXSnQLpKDrE6tJ\ CnNIiSOcWUZ`_TdeOadRZcTWbVTaXQ`ZN_`L_bIZddYOaVSZSW\ WP`UNdRKhOHlLEpJCtOFuTIvXKvaNwfQxjSxoVysXyfTtUPpHL\ k5Hg8JfBKfELfHNfKOfNPfQQfTSeWTeZUeaWedXegYeiZeZL_`\ UdbXidZneVsgQl_LeaJZcZSeULgPEiK7kG0mL5kPAiTFfXKb`P\ YeUUiZPmcLqhHulGpiFkgEfeEcbDa`C_ZCYWBWUAUSASQIUNPW\ KWYHb`EicBpi8wn5sl9okCkiFhhIdfL`eOXiSUgVQfYMd`IccF\ bfCah9cj6cl4cn7clAhkDhjGhiJhgMmfPmeSmdVmbYma`m`bm_\ amZarZarY`rY`rY`rX`rX_rX_rW_zW_zWczXfzYiz_lz`ozarz\ bQzi4zt3zp3zl3zi2ze2za2zZ } frm:SliceJulibrot4 {; draws all slices of Julibrot pix=pixel, u=real(pix), v=imag(pix), a=pi*real(p1*0.0055555555555556), b=pi*imag(p1*0.0055555555555556), g=pi*real(p2*0.0055555555555556), d=pi*imag(p2*0.0055555555555556), ca=cos(a), cb=cos(b), sb=sin(b), cg=cos(g), sg=sin(g), cd=cos(d), sd=sin(d), p=u*cg*cd-v*(ca*sb*sg*cd+ca*cb*sd), q=u*cg*sd+v*(ca*cb*cd-ca*sb*sg*sd), r=u*sg+v*ca*sb*cg, s=v*sin(a), esc=imag(p5)+9 c=p+flip(q)+p3, z=r+flip(s)+p4: z=z^(real(p5))+c |z|< esc } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint ;
