To create the parent fractal I added an ; infinitesimal 0.0000000000000001 part of Z^(-2) to a whopping ; 100 parts of Z^2. This unlikely combination produces a parent ; Mandelbrot set so tiny that it appears as little more than a dot ; at the center of the screen. ; ; The magnitude of today's image is over 10^14, and still has a ; little way to go before breakdown appears. This does not mean I ; have found a way to increase the limit of definition. What has ; happened is that the 100 parts of Z^2 have shifted the decimal ; point two places to the left, and we are simply getting greater ; magnification of a smaller parent fractal. ; ; The tiny parent M-set appears pretty much normal until we ; venture into its more extreme depths, where strange things, ; including anti-bifurcation begin to appear. Today's image lies ; in the East Valley area of the parent, though only a few signs ; of East Valley elements are in the scene. ; ; The name "Eastern Confusion" refers to the unexpected details in ; the image. The art rating of 7 indicates that the image is ; worth a look. The math rating of an 8 indicates that in this ; image we might be on the verge of something quite new. Only ; time and investigation will tell. ; ; The calculation time of 1-3/4 minutes will pass in a flash. The ; flash may be avoided by viewing the image on one of the web ; sites. ; ; The finished image is posted at: ; ; ; ; A hi-def version is posted at: ; ; ; ; 16 years of back images are posted at: ; ; ; ; And in the next FOTD, a new FOTD web site may be added. ; ; The weather was near perfect here at Fractal Central today, with ; photoshop blue skies, puffy cottonball clouds, low humidity and ; a temperature of 79F 26C. Both the fractal cat and humans had a ; good day, though FL was a bit cranky around the edges at times. ; ; The next FOTD will be posted in the proper time. Until whenever ; that might be, take care, and may the aliens from outer space ; show themselves. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jimmuth@earthlink.net ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= Eastern_Confusion { ; time=0:01:45.00 SF5 at 2000MHZ reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=MandAutoCritInZ function=ident passes=1 center-mag=-0.01739734355439775/+0.000000024567652\ 58/1.103568e+014/1/-172.5/0 params=100/2/1e-016/-2\ /0/0/0/0 float=y maxiter=1500 inside=0 logmap=138 periodicity=6 mathtolerance=0.05/1 colors=00068P79Q8AR9BSACTBDUCEWDGYEI_GKaIMdKOgMQjO\ SlQTnSPsKOpAKg0GSAPJHTAPY1UeAZkIcqVhuemzqmzfhrTckS\ UaMIQLGLKLPF_PAfU6mXJqaQzmXzqczsjzzqzzxzzpzzhvwaov\ RiuHcu7X63P64H65A6697E87M77U68`58h48p38wTvRPuOLtMH\ sKDrH9qF6qDAmJEiOHeULbZPZdSViWRoZOtTUsN_sHdsBjr5pr\ 0ur7soEqmLokRniXlhajhfhgkfgpdfubfgagUahG`i3`i3Ro3H\ uAIsGIqMJo`yhclPe_6ZdDTiJNnQHsWBwaAonAgzGauMWpSQkY\ KfcEai8Xn3SiCQdLP_UOVbNQkMMsLHe_DSmIWiN_fSbcXf_ajX\ fmUenQenMenJenFenBen8doEdpKdqQcrWcsactg`mdYgaVaZSV\ WPPTMJQKDNIFLHHKGJIFLHMPJTTL_XNf`PlcRjgTikUgnVfrXd\ vYcyZdyOeyDfy3gq8hjDibIjWMhZOf`PdcRbeS`hTZjVXmWVmX\ RmVNmTFm6ImELmMNmTQm`SmgOmfKmfGmfzmezmezmezmezmhzm\ kzmnzmqzmuzmhzmWzmVzmUzmTzmSzmRzmQzmPzmOzmQzmSzmTz\ mVzmWztYzyZzw`zvbzuczzezzfzzhzzizzlzzozzrzzuzzxzzo\ zzgzz_zzTzzMzzLzzLzzLzzLzzTzz`zzhzzozzczzSzzGzzKzz\ OzzSzzWzz_zzczzfzzYzzQzzH } frm:MandAutoCritInZ {; Jim Muth a=real(p1), b=imag(p1), d=real(p2), f=imag(p2), g=1/f, h=1/d, j=1/(f-b), z=(((-a*b*g*h)^j)+(p4)), k=real(p3)+1, l=imag(p3)+100, c=fn1(pixel): z=k*((a*(z^b))+(d*(z^f)))+c, |z| < l } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint ;
