; Today's image lies in the parent fractal that results when 2 
; negative parts of Z^(-22) are combined with 10 negative parts 
; of Z^(-1.2) and (1/C) is added on each iteration.  This parent 
; features an extraordinarily well-formed 'fan' with the blade 
; facing east.  Today's image lies near the terminus of the main 
; spike of a rather twisted minibrot at the northern edge of the 
; blade of the 'fan'.

; The art rates a 7.  I put enough effort into the coloring to 
; make the rating an honest one.  The math rating of a 6 is 
; appropriate, since the math trick is well over ten years old.
; 
; The name "Satin Ribbons" is a carry-over from an earlier but now 
; discarded coloring of the same image, though a bit of the satin 
; ribbon effect still remains.

; The calculation time of 3-3/4 minutes is slow, which could allow 
; impatience and boredom to arise.  Luckily, the FOTD web sites 
; can eliminate this danger.

; snow.  In the early afternoon the flurries changed to steady 
; snow, which was falling fast as this FOTD was posted.  The 
; temperature rose from a morning low of 3F -16C to an afternoon 
; high of 23F -5C.  The fractal cats noticed the snow, then went 
; about their business of eating, sleeping and playing.  The 
; fractal humans took it as easy as they could in anticipation of 
; path clearing that will be needed tomorrow.
