This parent consists of a ; large bay shaped somewhat like a half-moon, with a few minor ; bays around the edges and a field of cross-shaped filaments ; extending to the south. Today's scene lies near the southern ; edge of this field of filaments. ; ; The effect of an island in the middle of nowhere was achieved by ; rendering the image with the logmap set too high and coloring ; the very large area covered by the 001 register total black. ; This took a little extra work, which raised the art rating to a ; 7. The math rating scores only a 6. I can see nothing very new ; or unique in the math aspect. ; ; The name "The Long Arm of Math" refers to the unusually long ; main filament extending northeast from the oddly shaped order ; 1.3 minibrot at the center. ; ; The image calculates in 55 seconds, which will pass unbelievably ; fast. Those who still cannot believe may find calculation ; relief on the FOTD web sites. ; ; The finished image is posted at: ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; The official web site will be back in operation in a few days. ; ; Clouds spoiled today here at Fractal Central, though the mild ; temperature of 50F +10C prevented a total loss. The new fractal ; cat Jasmine remained confined to her room with a collar around ; her neck. The old fractal cat Nicholas wondered what was wrong ; with her. The humans simply took it as easy as possible. ; ; The next FOTD will be posted in the not-too-distant future. ; Until whenever, take care, and our president says this is the ; 21st century and the world has moved beyond the days when one ; nation can impose its will on another nation by force. So do as ; the U.S. says, not as it does. ; ; ; Jim Muth ; jimmuth@earthlink.net ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= TheLongArm_of_Math { ; time=0:00:55.00 SF5 at 2000MHZ reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=MandelbrotBC3 function=ident passes=1 center-mag=+0.5516410406928077/-1.356369190773757/\ 1.182505e+008/1/150/0 params=1.3/0/1/0 float=y maxiter=32000 inside=255 logmap=110 periodicity=6 colors=00000014M25O38Q4IS5MU6PWCZYXgQpsKloJilJfiIb\ eI_bHX_HTXGQTGNQFJNFGKEDGE9DD6AD37D8BCCECGHCKLBOOB\ SRBXT8WUBWVEVWGVXJVYMUZOU_RSUWU_TVdRWiPXoNYtLSyNZy\ JdyGjyDhuBfrAdo9bk8`h7Ze6`f8af9bfAdgBegCfgDghEihFj\ hGkiHliIniJojKpjLslNqjMphLofKmdJlbIk`HiZHhXGgVFeTE\ dRDcPCbNC_OEXOGUPIRPKOQMLQOIRQFRSCSU9SWCTVETVGTVIT\ VLTVNTVPTVRUVTUVWUVYUV_UVaUVcUVcTWcSXcRXcQYcPYcPZc\ OZcN_cM_cL_cLYcLWeNUgPSiRQkTOmVMnWKlWIjWGzUEzSFzQF\ zOFzMGzKGzHGzEHzBHz8Hz5Fz6Hz7Iz8JzALzCMzDNzEPzGQzH\ RzJTzKUzLPzMVzM`zNfuNlwOryNyxOwwPuvQsvRruSptTntUms\ VkrWirWirWht`cud_whVxlRvjTuiUthVsgWqfXpeYodZnc`mba\ kabj`ci_mhZmgYmbamYezUizPmzKqzGtzDmzBmz9mz7mz4mz5m\ z6mz6mz7mz8mz8mz9mz9mzAmzBmzBmzCzzCzzKzzRziYzadzUn\ zSkzNhzIezDbz8_z3Yz4Wz5Uz6Sz7Qz8Oz9MzAKzBIzCGzDDzB\ FzEzzGzzIzzLzzNzzPzzSzzUzzWzzPzzYzzdzzezzfzzgzzhzz\ hzzfzzdzzbzz`zzZzzXzzVzzz } frm:MandelbrotBC3 { ; by several Fractint users e=p1, a=imag(p2)+100 p=real(p2)+PI q=2*PI*fn1(p/(2*PI)) r=real(p2)+PI-q Z=C=Pixel: Z=log(Z) IF(imag(Z)>r) Z=Z+flip(2*PI) ENDIF Z=exp(e*(Z+flip(q)))+C |Z|
