After all, fractals are almost the most ; important things in life, but not the most important. ; ; Today's belated image shows an order-11 minibrot lying deep in ; the chaos on the west side of the north branch of Seahorse ; Valley of its grossly oversized parent Mandelbrot set. The name ; "A Stray Undekabrot" confirms this description. ; ; I am becoming rather involved in investigating these higher- ; order fractals and their minibrots, though I have yet to concoct ; a formula that brings the size of the parent fractal under ; control in a satisfactory manner. In fact the futile search for ; a suitable formula is the main reason for the current irregular ; schedule of the FOTD. ; ; I could rate the art no higher than a 6 and the math interest no ; higher than a 5. The image is still worth a quick look however, ; at least in my opinion. ; ; The calculation time of 3-3/4 minutes is rather slow for an ; image that rates a measly 6+5. Here is where the web sites ; charge to the rescue. ; ; After waiting three days for further fractal satisfaction, why ; wait any longer. View the image instantly on the FOTD web sites ; at: ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; A near perfect partly cloudy summer day with a temperature of ; 84F 29C passed uneventfully here at Fractal Central today. The ; two fractal cats, now almost impossible to tell apart from a ; distance, took it easy most of the time. The most excitement ; happened when Jasmine got excited about a flock of butterflies ; that appeared in the fractal garden in the afternoon. Luckily, ; the fractal humans made it through the day without getting so ; excited. ; ; The next FOTD will be posted in a day or a few. Until whenever, ; take care, and do we observe a world that is really out there, ; or do we create the world by our act of observing it? Goofy ; occultists and rational quantum scientists both say things that ; imply that we create the world as we observe it, though the ; scientists, who must maintain an air of reason and respectabil- ; ity, cannot state such apparently irrational things outright. ; ; ; Jim (the true believer) Muth ; jimmuth@earthlink.net ; ; ; START PARAMETER FILE======================================= A_Stray_Undekabrot { ; time=0:03:45.00 SF5 at 2000MHZ reset=2004 type=formula formulafile=basicer.frm formulaname=MultiExp function=recip center-mag=-75\ 8.7815699862324/+76.37727081857/1.132678e+009 params=11/1000 float=y maxiter=2250 inside=0 logmap=466 periodicity=6 mathtolerance=0.05/1 colors=000c7GeAIfCKhFMiHOjKQlMSmPUoRWpUYqW_sZat`cv\ cewegxghudesbbp_`nYYkVViTTfQQdONaLL_JIYHGZJJ_KM_MP\ `NS`PVaQYbS`bTccVfcWidYle_oe`rf`uf_wiYvkUvnQupMusO\ tuRtxUszXsw_juabscVqeNqgKqiIqkGqmDqoBqq9qr6qp4qm2k\ k2ii5ggAeeDccGabJ_`MYZMWWKUUISRGQPFOMDMKBKH9IF8GG8\ EH8EI8EI8EJ8EK8EL8EL8EM8EN8EO8EO8EP8EQ8ER8ER8DPBCO\ ECMGBLJAJMAIO9HR8FU8EW7CZ6Ba69c58f57h7Ag9DgBFfDIfF\ KfHNeJPeKSdMUdOXdQZcSacUcbWfbXhbXdaXaaXZaXW`XT`XQ`\ XN`XK_XH_XE_XB_YEZZGY_IY_KX`MWaOWbRVbTUcVUdXTeZSe`\ S_YPVVMQTJLQGFNDALA5I7hUfeTcbS`_RZXQWUPURORONOLMMI\ LJFKHCJE9IB6H93G6Azb8pW6gP4YI2PBekhLWOkn7nt1ls3js5\ hs7gs9esBcrDarF`rHZrJXrLWrMNpIFnE7lBKYBWKBTUGQbLOa\ MM`MK`NmlAmn7mo5pmHrkTtidvgptdoranp_nnXmlVmjSlhQkf\ NkdLjcIjcGicDhcBhd8ge6gf7fg7eh7di7dj7ck7bl7am7an7`\ o7_p7Zq7Zr7Ys7Xt7Wu7Wv8Xw9XwAXwBXwCXwDYwEYwFYwGYwH\ YwIZwJZwKZwLZwMZwNZwHSwCM } frm:MultiExp { ; Jim Muth z=(0,0), c=pixel, a=-(real(p1)-2), b=imag(p1)+0.00000000000000000001: z=z*z*fn1(z^(a)+b)+c |z| < 100000000 } ; END PARAMETER FILE========================================= ; ; ; ; _______________________________________________ ; Fractint mailing list ; Fractint@mailman.xmission.com ; https://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/fractint ;
