; Today's image nearly duplicates an image I posted several days 
; ago, but this in no way detracts from its worth.  In fact, the 
; scene rates a double 8.  The art earns its rating because of the 
; extra work I put into the coloring, the math because such an 
; unexpected effect exists in such a familiar fractal object.
; 
; The image is sliced in an orientation halfway between the 
; Elliptic and Parabolic directions.  The location is off to the 
; side of the East Valley area of the large minibrot on the main 
; spike of the Mandelbrot set.
; 
; The image was rendered with the outside set to 'tdis' though 
; this is not responsible for the effect of brush strokes, which 
; is a natural part of the scene.  The name "Brush Strokes" calls 
; attention to this unusual effect.

; The calculation time of 10-3/4 minutes is slow by any standards, 
; but the image is worth the wait.  And the online web sites can 
; eliminate the wait completely.

; Though it turned out rather chilly here at Fractal Central 
; today, conditions were actually quite acceptable.  With a 
; temperature of 28F -2C and a good dose of sunshine between the 
; clouds, the fractal cats had enough time on their shelf to 
; satisfy themselves.  The humans, who are never completely 
; satisfied, made it through the first full working day of the 
; year without incident.
