Lindenmayer SystemsLindenmayer Systems, or L-systems for short, are a way of expressing an evolving structure. This model was originally created by Aristid Lindenmayer as a model for describing the evolution of structures in plants. The publication "Lindenmayer Systems, Fractals, and Plants", by Przemyslaw Prusinkiewicz & James Hanan, Lecture Notes in Biomathematics 79 Spinger-Verlag, 1989, gives a number of interesting L-system formulations for space-filling curves as well as simple plant structures. The file lsysfp.l is a reproduction of those figures as L-system definitions for the freeware program fractint. |
