Don't Support Spammers!
When you fill out a product registration form, have you noticed that they ask you for your email address? You think "well fine, I'm buying the product, it might be useful to give them that". Don't do it!
The only thing that will happen is that you will get spam from the company on -every- release cycle of their product, whether you want it or not. They all claim that you can get removed from their list, but we've all been burned on that route before, right? Besides, as soon as they fire their current marketing dweeb who thought spam was a good idea and hire their next marketing dweeb that thinks spam is a good idea, you will be getting more spam.
Don't buy products from companies that spam your email address!
Boycott Fractal Painter 7!
Currently Fractal Painter 7 by procreate.com has been released and they are spamming all their customers about it. When they first spammed me several years ago, I followed the instructions in their email saying I wished to never receive any email from them again.
When they spammed me again, I called them on the phone and made sure they really knew that I didn't wish to receive further email solicitations from them. I told them quite firmly that they were not generating revenue for their company or building brand name recognition, but that they were actively generating hatred for their company. I swore off buying another product or upgrade from their company at that time and I told them this as I requested that they remove all contact information for me from their databases and mailing lists. I told them I didn't want to to business with them anymore.
Now they have a new company name and they are at it again! Three strikes and you're out, as they say. No more talking to them nicely (first request), or firmly (second request) -- now the only thing left is to publicly shame and humiliate them for treating their customers as a database to be "mined" and not like human beings.
Don't support the spammers!
