This is programming that is used for data acquisition and control through a DR-11 S-Bus interface card on a SUN Sparc Station. The interface program runs in the background with a high Solaris real time priority waiting for commands from the GUI Open Windows high level programming, which are sent through UNIX interprocess communications functions. Commands may be executed immediately, or for longer duration commands, another job is spawned to complete the task while the main program waits for another command.
