Hi Yien, Before I make a purchase, I will always have a goal in mind for the particular stock. In some cases, my goal is to make a quick 20-25% and get out. Those adrenalin monies are typically designated specifically for adding oomph to the portfolio. Other stocks have not only a good technical entry point, but more closely match the makings of "a good stock." They are the ones I've typically spent more time with in due diligence and I've ascertained that they have a certain something that sets them apart from the crowd. As long as their action after the breakout is sound and the stock is making steady progress with no sell signals flashing, then I ride them out for what the market is willing to serve up. These stocks that show pleasantly rising trends without a high degree of volatility and extremist momentum action are often the ones that make the very best gains. As long as my reason for owning them is still valid, they stay in the portfolio. I remember Jesse Livermore saying that it was much more profitable to ride on your trade than to cut your gains after a certain percentage gain. In other words, what kind of criterias to look in order to tell if the stock you bought is a winner - so stick with it, or a dog - sell it or even go short? thanks Yien - - - -To subscribe/unsubscribe, email "majordomo@xmission.com" - -In the email body, write "subscribe canslim" or - -"unsubscribe canslim".
