--- Niagara Falls '97 ---

I couldn't pass up the chance to see Niagara Falls on the way to Ithaca. It was raining all morning on the way to the park, but the sun came out when I started taking pictures! Lucky me!

Niagara falls is actually three separate falls, American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and Horseshoe falls. Here is a picture of all three from the American side. Both Bridal Veil and Horseshoe are on the Canadian side. If you look closely, you can see some people braving the wet and slippery stairs for a closer look. They are wearing the blue plastic panchos from the "Maid of the Mist" boat below. (970x540 257Kb jpeg)

Here is a view of American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls from the "Maid of the Mist". That is the boat that takes you right into the center of the Horseshoe falls. It is _REALLY_ wet on the boat. They make you wear bright blue biodegradable plastic panchos. They didn't help much, we got awfully wet. You can see some people with the yellow panchos on walking around under Bridal Veil Falls. Canada uses yellow panchos and America uses the blue ones. (1982x358 212Kb jpeg)

A close-up of Horseshoe Falls from the Canadian side. You can see the "Maid of the Mist" boat really well from here. It goes right up into the center where all the mist is (hence the name). (1375x579 357Kb jpeg)
