The purpose of this series of images was to experiment with infrared using the D30. This is the original color image.

EXIF: Canon 100mm Macro lens, 1/200 sec, f/16, ISO 100, manual focus.

The image was sized and adjusted in Photoshop using Levels, Curves, and Unsharp Mask.

This is the second exposure and is the original infrared image as it came from the camera except for resizing. After manual focusing, a 55mm Tiffen #87 filter was installed using a 58mm-55mm step down ring.

EXIF: Canon 100mm Macro lens, 8 sec, f/16, ISO 100, long exp reduction on, and mirror lock up.

The infrared image was reduced to grayscale, sized and adjusted in Photoshop using Levels, Curves and Unsharp Mask.

False color image.

After adjustments in Photoshop, the original color and infrared images were split into channels and then merged into the false color image. The red channel of the IR image was placed into the red channel, the red channel of the color image was placed into the green channel and the green channel of the color image was placed into the blue channel. Cloud motion between the exposures caused the various cloud colors.
