Tolkien y Howard han acuñado dos maneras incuestionables, e imitadas hasta el infinito, de escribir fantasía. Junto a ellos, únicamente dos nombres más han sobresalido por la personalidad de su producción en el mismo campo: Fritz Leiber y Glen Cook.

Hasta ahora, las novelas de Cook se habían editado con notable éxito en catorce países, lo que hace más inexplicable todavía su ausencia del mercado de lengua castellana.
